You are the first on this site who has the "balls to compare this with the Clarkson signing". Brave brave man
lamajama said:When you compare the two after 10 games, you'll see why there is no comparison to the Clarkson deal. Leo will outperform Clarkson by miles.

I guess we will have to see. I am under the impression this will be a turn around year for Clarkson. IMO.

I said a mini-version of the Clarkson signing. Which it is. It's the same flawed logic by management.

Except that isn't really the "logic" used in either case. Clarkson got his money because the hope was he would contribute offensively. Komarov got his as a defensive forward. 3 million is more or less the free agent rate for an in demand penalty killer.
A Weekend at Bernier's said:I get what you're saying but, really, it's not. Komorov is a Leafs draft pick, so presumably they've been monitoring his development. He's attended training camps and played exhibition games. He played a season with them, which, by most accounts, was a pretty good year. And he's played at and succeeded at the international level.
All of this to say that I think the Leafs know Komorov a lot better than they would have known Clarkson at the time of his signing, which to me makes it a different type of deal.

Mike1 said:Really? I'm sure you can find a guy to kill penalties & play defense for a lot less than 2.9 million dollars over 4 years.

When the Leafs do something good that makes the team better, I'll give them a complement for doing so. Komarov doesn't fit the bill at all.

30 goals here we come!
