Matthews' goal.

So much going on in this play that led to a successful chance on goal:
1. JvR/Marner creating a failed uncontrolled exit (Chara), leading to a chance for Matthews. Note JvR's pass out was to the expected RH shot, but Matthews had already come on for Bozak. He'll get used to it
2. A great example of how Nylander plays defense without you noticing: being in the right place and identifying where the defense wants the puck to go. Easy interception. Great play by Hunwick to apply pressure on the easy outlet letting Nylander pick it clean.
3. Long change in the 2nd period after being hemmed in their own zone, Boston is flat-footed on their blue line, so the turnover coming back so aggressively after the Leafs complete their change leads to a lot of space for the attackers. Great move by Nylander on the entry.
4. Instead of busting hump directly to the net, the Leafs stagger their approach, with Hyman making a bee-line for the far post and drawing the defense. Nylander correctly identifies him as the low percentage option as Hyman's a rightie with semi-solid cement gloves and dragging a defender. Matthews comes in above Nylander which lets the centering pass reverse flow, messing up Chara's tired attempt at defense.
5. Matthews' catch and release (see below) is disgustingly fast, and he handles it in stride with ease, letting his forward momentum load his shot for him. I think it's his farthest goal so far, and pretty similar to a lot of his Swiss goals.
6. That hop.
