Leafs @ Bruins - Feb. 2nd, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

In those constant commercials where they're bragging how fast they start your insurance claim - what's the relevance? Isn't it far more impressive to note how fast a company actually pays out a claim?

I think the point of it is when these supposed catastrophes are occurring. Late at night, on a Saturday, etc.

That's what I hate about this league now. What happened to the old days when if you were in the crease for more than 2 seconds someone flattened you. Krejci allowed to sit their fishing for the puck.

Hmm. All that seems to be relevant is when the guy hits the stopwatch after the call center says "the claim is started". To me, that doesn't really equate to any practical help or resolution - basically says "we've opened a file with your name on it".

In other ads, they also point out how they've already called a plumber/tow truck/etc., regardless of the time of day.

EDIT: Also, getting the insurance stuff started quickly is a pretty big selling point, when you consider it allows you to check one big thing off your list almost immediately so you can focus on the other things you need to address in these situations, without having that extra stress of knowing you still manage to get in touch with your insurance company.

I wanted to look up what Froese's FO% was at in the defensive zone tonight but I have literally no idea how to get to the faceoff summary report on the new NHL.com, or if it even still exists.

After about 30 minutes on the new site, I've managed to find out that Patrick Kane is leading the league in scoring.

That sounds like fancy talk. Have you found anything else to back up that claim, mister?

I suppose there's an implication that the sooner the claim is started the sooner you receive something in the way of resolution but this is where we've exhausted my knowledge of the insurance industry.

Nope, he isn't. You're wrong.

No. And I think I accidentally paid them 49.99 in the process.

That would be far more relevant. But that isn't really the focus of the claim in the ad. If that guy hit the stopwatch when someone actually showed up to help, I'd be far more impressed.

One the upside, you're claim is likely to be denied that much sooner.

Well, it's one less thing I have to worry about while I figure out to get this tree out of my house.

What bugs me about those commercials is that when the guy stops the timer he says that that is when the claim started, but it's not. That's just when the guy found out the claim started. That's hardly relevant information.

This calls for an Excel spreadsheet.
