Brodie has been such a stabilizer back there.  Solid almost all the time.
For sure.

And Bogosian has been honestly totally fine. It almost sounded like he'd be a depth defenseman on a bad team at best when he was signed, but you really couldn't ask for much more than how he's played.

It's so refreshing to not have any punching bags on the defence.
I know! And Leafs fans usually try their best to find ones too! Although I do think if we were going up against TBay or Boston on the reg we'd find more holes in the various dmen.

Good win.  Aside from the start that wasn?t helped by the softy from Andersen that was a good game.  A little boring but playoff-like

He saved our butts the previous game. Skaters owed him one.

Freddie was outstanding after that goal. He kept them in the game.

He completely shut the door in the rest of the 1st and 2nd, and the 2nd goal was just bouncing everywhere off of bad clearing attempts. I don't think the team owed him anything. He played really well.

Also, surprising to me at least, Bogosian is proving to be far more serviceable than I had expected. I was thinking he'd be sort of Polak on an average to good day, but he's been very dependable.

Anson Carter is a nice addition to that panel.

Yeah, he sounds like a natural. I wish they would give someone new like him a chance to do some colour commentary. Simpson is getting stale.

I think Craig Simpson doesn't even watch the game and just goes by recorded shots against. That game was even in my mind and he was acting like the Habs were blowing the Leafs out of the water.

He must really miss Hughson. The two of them could nonsensically bash the Leafs nonstop. Now with Cuthbert he can't do it.

Good game Leafs!

Hill is becoming one of my favs on this team.

Can't stand Simpson. Only thing worse is Hughson and Simpson. At least we have Cuthbert.

This is Justin Holl libel by omission
Hush, you! We all know that Holl is awesome by now, it literally goes without saying.

Cuthbert had a couple questionable commentary moments but definitely an upgrade of Hughson.

I still can't believe Holl was scratched 72 times by Babcock

The number of questionable things did by Babcock is mind boggling. He was right about Hyman. Everything else he sucked.

I liked how Babcock on occasion would put the younger players out in the final moments of a game to let them feel the pressure.  I think it really helped them for times like tonight in the final moments.

On the whole though I found most of what Babcock did was frustrating as a Leaf fan and benching Spezza the opening night was unforgiveable...

I have been quite surprised as well with Bogosian.  I was thinking he would be compared something along the lines of Marincin, etc.

His offense is no where to be seen but he can play defence very well which I am not used to as a Leaf fan.  Normally the defencemen just play bad with a few half decent moments to re-create false hope over and over again.

As a RH 3rd pairing and PK specialist I am hoping he stays with us for a few more years on the $1 MIL range contract.  With Holl in the fold we have the bottom 2 RH defencemen wrapped up I hope.

There are a lot of things we would like to do better so we can control play a little bit better like we did at the start of the third period. Again, defensively, we didn?t give them much at all. In fact, I had this as the lowest number of scoring chances we gave up in a game all season. Despite some of the volume, I thought our guys did a really good job of protecting the middle of the ice and not giving anything up odd-man.

On the first goal, they got in behind us a little bit at the start of the game, but that was really it. They never really got behind us again off the rush. Those are some of the things we talked about as keys for the game coming in. I thought our players stuck with it and Fred was solid for us.

I actually commend Andersen for fighting through. He was fighting the puck all night, and neither goal were strong ones, but he fought hard and only gave up the 2 goals on 35 shots.

Haha, I was mad to see Dermott in and Lehonten out and Dermott scores. Depth is a beautiful thing.

Loved Holl's post-game interview. A lot of feel-good things happening for the Leafs right now. It's a tremendous time to be a Leaf fan! The Kool-Aid tastes great.
