Game Notes

TOR
?Campbell (11-2-1, 2.24 GAA, .919 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Toronto's lines are in a bit of a flux with Hyman out, Nylander possibility out for disciplinary reasons (late for practice), and Mikheyev possibility out with an undisclosed injury he suffered at practice on Monday
?Brooks and Engvall were wearing regular jerseys at practice so expect them to find their way into the lines somehow
?Sandin skated with Bogosian at practice on Monday, indicating that he might be getting into a game here

VAN
?Holtby (5-6-2, 3.44 GAA, .899 Sv%) will likely start for the Canucks
?The last of Vancouver's players (Schmidt and Virtanen) on the Protocol list have been taken off. It's unclear if they'll be deemed good to play yet though
?The Canucks will be without Edler as he was suspended 2 games for his hit on Hyman on Sunday

Injuries

?Ilya Mikheyev - Undisclosed - Questionable Tuesday
?Zach Hyman - Knee - Injured Reserve
?Frederik Andersen - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Riley Nash - Knee - Injured Reserve
?Ben Hutton - COVID Protocol - Out
?Nick Foligno - COVID Protocol - Out
Code:

?Elias Pettersson - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Justin Bailey - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Micheal Ferland - Concussion - Out indefinitely

Heh, the Canucks have been ravaged by Covid, are missing one of their top players, starting their backup  goalie, and haven't played since Sunday night.  This has "Leafs cakewalk" written all over it.

Does anyone think that Dermott goes to number 7 when Hutton gets here? I don't know Hutton at all but it's weird that they may be dressing Sandin ahead of Dermott only a game before Hutton should be available.

I wouldn't be surprised if they rotate between all 3 with Dermott and Sandin still having the edge though. Hutton is here mostly if one of the defensive guys go down with an injury I think.

Sandin's getting a shot on the powerplay so if he makes a clear impact there he'll have a leg up on the others.

I think the only way Dermott drops out of the top 6 is if Sandin earns a permanent spot on the roster. Hutton should definitely fall below him on the depth chart.

Excited for Sandin to get a shot.  Hopefully he impresses and shows he should be in the top 6.

I know one thing.  If the Leafs lose I am done with the team forever.  They better beat Winnipeg when I watch on Thursday.

And if they lose on Thursday Im DEFINITELY not watching ever again. But I am curious to see if they go with Rittich on Saturday...

I expect the Leafs to come out with purpose tonight and lay a beating on that team. If they don't, I'm never watching another Leaf game  ;)

Think it's the right move. Campbell has been fighting it lately and we need to see what we have in Rittich.

That's some Happy Gilmoreness. Goalies are weird, man

For those who didn't know about it, this pre-game ritual started when he was in the Czech Republic and his goalie coach accidently fired two shots off his mask during a pre-game skate and he ended up getting a shutout in the game that night.
