Boo.  First fluff by Andersen.

It looked like he thought the puck deflected up, and it got caught in his jersey as he looked up for it.

I sort of think Matthews, maybe more than either of the other super rookies, is going to have to find new tricks in the playoffs.

Martin needs to be more responsible than that. I don't care if you think it's a weak call, you can't give the Refs an excuse to call something there.

Agreed and in fairness to him, he had a very good "heavy" period before that, but he has to be smarter.

I kind of think the opposite, actually.  It seems to me that his ability to score in tight quarters will serve him well when space gets even scarcer.

Ya especially in open ice and the guy doesn't even have the puck. Gotta be smart pick your spots.

And I've liked Martin's game prior to that. But one stupid penalty can very easily erase all the hard checks you finished earlier in the game.

Maybe but I sort of feel like he's going to have the Sundin issue where the Refs letting obstruction fouls go is going to take away some of his ability to do that.

The second goal by Washington was certainly a fluke but Marincin has to be stronger on that play.  He didn't do anything to clear Williams from the front of the net.

And Martin is supposedly the steady team veteran but that penalty by him was such a bad instinctive selfish play.  If Babcock has any concept of 'accountability' he would limit the ice time of the 4th line and focus on playing the top young players more. (And I am not necessarily talking about Hyman).

Bad break on that tying goal. Caps are lucky to be tied after two. Not looking forward to the third, I think the Caps turn it up.

Watching Leafs at work, caught some second period. Except for the fluky goal the Leafs were in total control. Caps barely touched the puck. Better than expected so far!

38 G 82 P in 91 playoff games.  I think Sundin did pretty well given the conditions.

It's an excellent counterpoint. I really shouldn't have said Sundin was hot garbage in the playoffs.
