They deserve this win.  Masterful 3rd period.
Leafs figured they would take the 2nd off and still win. Had they played the entire game like that it would have been a blowout

Leafs playing a good third so far, limiting Jersey's chances.  Steer 'er home lads.

Near perfect, actually.  Really impressive control the last 5 minutes.  15/3 SOG advantage.  Nice to see.

Umm sure there's a stat available for this but man do I think Kadri turns the puck over a lot, and usually in a bad spot

Leafs lose to this garbage team after being up 3-0 might as well start to worry

Already there. East is weak for the most part but 6 points from being out of the playoffs. For a team heavily favoured to win the whole thing I just don?t see it. Dubas with some head scratchers and more importantly Babcock I feel is not earning his paycheque. Overrated coach is all he is. Teams with less talent than this team that play more consistently on a nightly basis. Honestly feel he?s holding this team back.
Then again it's only January and sort of like the dog days of the season. Concerning that Leafs seem to take long stretches of games off for whatever reason.

What head scratchers do you think Dubas has done other than choosing Sparks that wasn't popular with many fans?

Sparks decision for sure.
The Nylander signing. Would have traded him for some help on the backend.
Not signing any of the 3 until December. Think he should of worked on signing someone before the season started and just not upgrading this team in any manner.

He can't force Matthews or Marner to sign before or during the season. Their agents are obviously smart guys and think waiting until the offseason is the right play.

As for your "just not upgrading this team in any manner" comment... you're kidding right?

Sparks is still an incomplete, can't write him off. Nylander is way better than what he's produced so far, I'm still confident he'll be flying come playoffs.

Dubas did sign Tavares, unless you think any GM in Toronto could have gotten him cause he just wanted to be here no matter what

The Leafs were not, and have never been, "heavily favoured to win the whole thing".

Most pundits had them where they are, behind Tampa.

I didn?t mean the straight out favourite I mean heavily favoured as in top 3. I don?t think they are. The Tavares signing was great but other than that no different than last year. Still think they are not a team to win in the playoffs. As much as some don?t think so u need toughness in the playoffs and this team lacks a ton of it.

For those who missed it. Matthews' shot with his bottom hand gripping the stick the wrong way is probably better than a lot of NHLers' regular shot.

Didn?t matter who the GM was. The 11 million and coming home to play in Toronto and the young core was what made JT?s mind up. Lou was still GM I think Tavares still signs here.

Probably not but I think I recall JT saying how impressed he was with Dubas. I think if the Islanders weren't such a joke, he would never have left.

Right. So, let's see where they are in the standings...ah yes...tied for third in the entire league.

If you look at the odds in Vegas whatever Leafs were in the top 3 teams to win the Stanley Cup. That's what I was going by and even with the Tavares signing and I was as happy as the next guy when he signed but. To me the team still lacks some grit, toughness etc. Too many players with the same style and in my opinion soft. Ain't going to cut it.

It's only January and trade deadline hasn't passed but we'll see what Dubas does from now until then.
