Zaitsev finally gets a primary assist! By banking the puck off the glass and potentially putting it out of play but the refs didn't see it.
I think it hit the mic on the glass. Either way Zaitsev and Jake played a, solid solid game.

Indeed.

Underrated was Rielly?s recognition that Johnsson was offside and he smartly kept the play alive for a successful dump and chase while the Lightning were yo-yoing in and out of their zone.

That was such a smart play, I was raving about it and then the goal happened.

Why can't they all be this engaged every game?

Nobody is really going to like this answer but honestly it's just a long season and that's pretty much impossible to do.
It's the truth tho. The body and mind can't do it for 82 games. That was a fun game to watch tho. Very exciting and lots of chances at both ends.

Quite possibly one of the best game of the season for the Leafs in beating the NHL?s top team.

A definite confidence booster after enduring one of the worst games of the year against the Avs Tuesday night.

Andersen appears in fine form, so soon, so fast.  The Hyman - Matthews - Nylander line was formidable (they were their usual selves, they picked up where they left off).  The Tavares & Kadri lines were running full systems go.

Excellent win, guys!

GO LEAFS GO!

Coach Babcock on the team?s performance:

?I thought we had a good effort tonight. I thought we had everybody on board. I thought Fred was real good in the third, obviously, and down the stretch. But I thought our team played well. We could?ve had a lot more. I thought their goaltender was good, too.

It was a good win for our team. We haven?t been as sharp here as lately, as you know. I thought this was a good response. We talked a lot about it ? getting back on track, working hard, and doing it right. I thought we did that tonight.

What is puck luck?

Sometimes, you do everything right but the nature of the environment and play medium kiboshes the result. Sometimes you fail at your original intent but the result lands favourably your way. Most of these goals are the result of doing the difficult things that luck can?t stop: being heavy on your stick, getting to contested ice, and being in the spot where most of the probable bounces meet at the right time (like Butterfly but for skaters). Sometimes the inanimate mic taped to the glass too, helps you ice the game.

Shades of skill flashed by Nylander.

Bab's throwing out 3 centers at the end of the second was awesome.

Stamkos high stick no call against Tavares was utter BS. Who is he, Gretzky? In a game they call a penalty for someone dropping their stick they have to call a blatant high stick.

I would love to see these lines stick. We have been dreaming of 3 dynamic lines since the signing of Tavares. These line combos might be just that! It's time to start putting up 5+ goals a night. We're all in on offense.

This is the general problem with NHL refs.  They claim that a "penalty in the first period is the same as a penalty in the 3rd or OT" but it's complete BS.  The fact that it was late in the 3rd, Tampa was pressing to try and tie, they didn't want to affect the outcome by giving the Leafs a late PP in that situation.  Luckily it didn't affect the outcome.

Agreed. This is why I was frustrated a number of times last night -- despite the win. They're still guilty of trying to make the perfect plan at times. There were at least 5 times the better play would have been a shot on net. Puck luck isn't going to help if the pucks not heading to the net.

3.  Side point: Hainsey?s hard rim was actually icing, although in real time it?s a little closer than it looks below. But it?s definitely icing. [on our GWG]

Refs are out to get the Leafs, dontchaknow
