Has Justin Holl been our best attacker tonight?

I'm not even watching the game but liked what I've seen from him even last year.
Heard somewhere where he was a healthy scratch last year for like 70 games. LOL. What a joke. Meanwhile we had to endure watching Marincin.

So tell me why couldn't he crack the lineup?
Babs didn't like him.

No. You don't say. Must have improved with all the practicing he did trying to get into the lineup.

They have hung Kaskisuo from the highest yardarm but he killed any hope for this game with that bad 3rd goal.

He pushed their third goal into the next period because it could?ve been 7-0 in the first

I think Barrie and Ceci need to go for sure, Shore & Petan too, but I'd also replace Gauthier.  He's much improved but he doesn't bring enough.  If only he could paste people.

True enough.

I haven?t been watching. I assume these boards are full of relentless positivity?

Similar to the Tampa game. Nothing went right and nearly everything went in for the Pens.

If you exclude the negativity then yes.

Just roll that last closeup of Dubas.

I would hope that wherever Shanahan is, he's livid.

There are literally 10 players on Pitt I have never heard of before....and they crushed the Leafs

Friedman sure thinks Babs is going to get the axe. Burke seems to lean that, way as well. We shall see. Like they said, can't wait too long.

20 games is too small of a sample size to call Barrie a bad player, given his good performance in previous years. Tonight was just more evidence that Babcock is unable to adapt to a new style of play, and hasn't bought in to Dubas system.

Too many people underestimate how much of a difference a coaching change can make. Just have a look at St Louis who was bottom of the league last year, mid way they hired a new coach and won the cup with the same roster. What changed?  Did the players all of a sudden get better?

Coach's job is to maximize his players talent, and Babcock is clearly incapable of doing that. The players are very clearly frustrated and defeated. Perfect time to get a new coach in, while they're on a road trip, good bonding time. As well with the amount of injuries, there will be less pressure on a new coach to perform out of the gate.

Even if you give Barrie the benefit of the doubt in terms of his offensive play, his defense is abysmal.  That isn't going to change.  Babcock is driving everyone crazy but it's on Dubas for trading for 2 of the wrong kind of defensemen over the summer.

Don't totally agree with that. Barrie isn't the second coming but he's capable. The main issue with the Leafs D is they're constantly leaving the house. They have been since Babs took over. Barrie said in some nterview he's having a hard time adjusting to his system. CC mentioned earlier in the season that the Leafs D play totally different then he's used to. If it was just 1 or 2 guys getting caught out then you can pinpoint. Problem is it's all of them running around.

Burke mentioned something? re:  how coaches get fired/decision-making.  Has Babcock lost ?the room??

They got stifled by this d-corp.

B. Dumoulin
J. Johnson
J. Marino
J. Schultz
J. Riikola
M. Pettersson

Its more system related than system.  Babcock wants pressure defense...and it doesn't work

He may have, it's becoming clear that Hasktol's systems are terrible, Rielly used to skate midway into the O Zone regularly with speed, either take a shot, make a pass or skate behind the goalie to try to make a play from there.  When has he done this lately, never!  Weak shots from the point, no adventure or creativity.  His D is awful, the toughest guy on the team muscle wise should be hitting people, only waving his stick like Harry Potter with a broken wand.  I used to love Rielly, whoever this guy is needs to find himself or go.  Barrie is not going to be here next season, team are calling, take a 2nd pick and run and let the poor guy find himself.
I never would have imagined Bab's gone by Christmas but now it seems possible, please take Hasktol and McFarland on the way out. Perhaps they can coach the Growlers into the ground.
