Actually, it doesn't sound all that bad, really:
jonasTSN1050: Kulemin could have played on the ankle for about a month, but faced the potential of injuring more severely in the process.

Still, missing both Kulemin and Clarkson for the next two weeks is gonna hurt. Somebody better wrap Lupul up in bubble wrap.

Hearing that it was Phaneuf, with a little digging you'll probably discover that Kulemin was 15' to the side of the net...

Yes...
Would be nice to have that Joe Colborne guy.

Would have, but getting another team to loan him to you after they picked him up on waivers Sept 30 would be tough.

Actually, I heard Kulemin was in a Mississauga mall enjoying a Cinnabon when he got hit.
TML fan said:Colborne isn't a role player. Having him to play 6 minutes or whatever Abbott and Devane got on Saturday is akin to having Phil Kessel on your 4th line. He's probably not going to score a lot, he doesn't play defence and he's not an energy guy. Regardless of how talented he is, he's completely useless.
So to answer the original question, not really.
CarltonTheBear said:The Leafs sent Devane and Abbott back down to the AHL yesterday so they could play in Sunday's Marlies game, and today they called Devane and Trevor Smith up. Here are the lines from practice:
JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Bolland-Raymond
McClement-Kadri-Bodie
Ashton-Smith-Orr
Devane-Clarkson
I wouldn't read too much in Carlyle's practice lines are they're often not what we see in game, but it might not be too long before Kadri gets stuck in a 3rd line spot like that if he doesn't pick things up. Also, it's nice to see that the Leafs gave Smith, who was recently named the Marlies captain and has been very good for them in their first two games, a call-up and maybe even a game or two.

?? He hasn't been great or anything, but he's got one goal. Not like he's been invisible.
TML fan said:Well, as we saw with the way Carlyle deployed his lines on Saturday, it's doubtful Colborne would have seen significant time in a top 6 role anyway. Raymond was simply bumped up. I'm not convinced that Colborne would be a better choice in a bottom 6 role than Devane, Bodie (who has been a pleasant surprise IMO) or even Carter Ashton who didn't dress.

He's got 3 pts actually. PPG so far this season. Bolland has 4 pts so far as well.... I'll take my 2nd and 3rd line centers playing at PPG paces all season thank you very much. (Yes, I know it won't keep up).
That said, I am totally fine with Carlyle alternating who is getting those minutes. If you need offense, put out Kadri on your 2nd line. If you need someone to shutdown the opposition, put out Bolland. I like how Carlyle has used both of them.
14. There is definitely some level of conversation going on between other teams and Toronto involving Jake Gardiner. I despise the word "shopped," as it's more like a feeling-out process. If the Maple Leafs do decide to do it, it's going to be for a young asset or assets. So, you have to look at teams with talented young players. This is PURELY my speculation, but if teams like Dallas, Florida or Minnesota would be interested, you could see a match.
15. The Gardiner talk surprised me, because he was so impressive against Boston in last year's playoffs. There are scouts who still have questions, but most agree that he has a valuable skill -- he can skate the puck out of trouble.
