Leafs @ Stars - Jan. 23rd, 8:00pm - TSN, SN 590

Baby's first loss. She's not taking it well.

Hockey teams wearing that shade of green shouldn't be allowed to win hockey games.  And don't call me colourist, because some of my best friends are green.

From a playoff perspective, the good news is that they could afford to lose this one because they won 6 in a row.

On the other hand, the teams chasing the Leafs all have games in hand on them, in some cases 3 games in hand.

I don't know why teams such as Anaheim and Dallas don't wear their classic jerseys. They look so much better.

Poor thing!  Well, don't ever let her forget that she triggered a 6-game winning streak.  And hey, even God had to rest on the 7th day, right?

That's just it.  Hartford was rightly forbidden from winning hockey games, forced to move and change their colours.  They were then allowed to win a Stanley Cup.

It's not easy being that shade of green.  Nor should it be.  It's an affront to the eyes.

Was at an interview so I missed the game.  Seems like a missed a great one.  People can call it a wakeup call but this is 8th loss where they lost by 3+ goals.  It is the 5th loss where they lost by 4+ goals.  It is the 3rd loss where they lost by 5+ goals.  All three 5 goal losses came in the month of January.  Eventually you need to look deep down...really deep and ask why the team doesn't care enough to put in a solid effort even half the time, let alone every night.

And if Carlyle every complains about the schedule, back-to-backs, fatigue or anything else.  Stop playing a useless 4th line that does nothing.

Colton Orr has now gone 70+ games without a goal and 60+ games without a point.

Columbus just won their 8th game in a row.  They have won 9 of 10 games since Nathan Horton got into the lineup.  Horton has 7 points in those 10 games.

Our illustrious David Clarkson has 8 points in 36 games.  Six more years of this garbage.

As if the loss wasn't enough, the American Airlines arena operations crew couldn't resist "rubbing it in"...

...the in-house operations staff made sure to kick Toronto while it was down ? first putting a picture of the recently-arrested Leafs fan Justin Bieber on the scoreboard and later showing disgraced mayor Rob Ford.

Very nice.  Thank you Dallas.  >:(

Glad I missed this one. Was going to watch the full game this morning on Gamecenter but I had scores turned on and saw it when I opened the app.

Thankfully.

Phaneuf... was the worst of the bunch.. I think his game has been bad for a bit now. was there a goal he was not on for last night. I also am getting tired of seeing him lose the blue line. He took nine shots at the net and missed all but one and, it was no threat. I am picking because he needs to pick up his game, big time.

He seriously did not give a single crap about anything in that game.  Lots of coasting and one-handed chips and pokes.

And as our so called leader, he can not afford to take even one game off. He needs to lead this team or step down.

First, stop framing the issue as "taking a game off" as if it's some conscious decision - "oh, tonight I'm not going to try very hard just because."  Second, maybe spend some time if you can and actually watch full games of other teams, and in particular, bad games of other teams.  The shocking thing?  And I know this might ruin your worldview but elite and star players all over the league have terrible games too.  I've seen, and this is a shock to many people, Chara flail around in his own end, get walked around, look lazy.  It's not a conscious decision, it's a bad game.  It's unrealistic to expect the top minute guys to always be on for 82-games.

Yes, Phaneuf was terrible last night.  He wasn't the only one, and every time he has a poor game doesn't have to be a summit on his leadership.  "Leaders" have bad games, "leaders" have horrid games.  It doesn't have to be a narrative, just let it be the reality of the situation.

The streak ends tonight.  Sorry guys.

Hello!!!!!!  Why would you jinx us like that? Could you have not just kept that to yourself.

There is no jinx.  It's something that was inevitable with the Leafs traveling so much, on a 6 game winning streak and Dallas desperate for a win.

This team pisses me off.  3 game win streak, then they lose 4 in a row, two of them huge blowouts.  Then win 6 in a row.  Int he 7th game you lose 7-1?  That just shouldn't happen.  3 blowouts this month.  Not encouraging at all.  I fully expect another pointless drought coming up.
