These are the kinds of games where the Leafs being incredibly soft makes it very difficult to win. I'm not going to get all azzurri about it but waving your stick at the opponent going for cutesy poke checks is not going to get the job done.
I think their problem tonight runs deeper than stick checks vs. bodychecks.

It really doesn't. They're getting dominated by the cycle. The best way to break the cycle is to physically seperate the player from the puck.
Well that's one way to keep a discussion going. I happen to think there's more to it than physical play, but okay.

Well, not that it matters now but if you'd care to elaborate I'm all ears (eyes?)

Would be nice if the leafs brought any energy.  Getting dominated.
Wild are a good team. Freddie is the only reason this is still close.

This was obviously not one if the Leafs better ones as we could see, getting one-upped by a Minnesota  squad that appeared quicker & smarter at times, with the Leafs looking sluggish.

But alas, it wss Freddie to the rescue (when he needed to be), super alert for any of those close-in shots in front of a maze of traffic.  The Leafs did score when they saw opportunity (Brown's play that led to the winning goal and Hyman's empty-netter as the insurance marker).

A little surprised at how the Wild held their own and dominated offensively.  Yes, they're pretty good but we all know the Leafs can do better.

Just one of those games.

Without Andersen tonight they lose big.

Good thing he plays for the leafs then.

I don't get that position.

"If it wasn't for the good players, then they wouldn't be good"

Goaltenders are a part of the team.
I'm saying the rest of the team didn't play very well. If Andersen matched the effort of most of the other guys tonight it's not close
