Michael Carcone is a 22 yr old left shot winger on the final year of his ELC.

17 points in 20 AHL games for Carcone and he's only 22 so, you know, that's maybe something.

He also has the size profile of a Dubas selection; Laurence Gilman is familiar with the player and now has some scoring depth for the inconsistent Marlies.

Carcone is also semi-local being from Ajax but he played in the Q as an overager? I don't entirely get that. He definitely seems to be the smallish late bloomer that gets Dubas' nerd juices flowing.

I can't see any reason to read too much into Carcone as the return. He was an undrafted pick up; maybe they can Trevor Moore him in time, but that will likely be on an AHL deal next year if we don't simply cut bait.

The goal was to open a roster spot and Dubas elected to help Leivo get a shot at some legit NHL minutes while helping out Gilman's Marlies, rather than risk Gauthier or Holl on waivers.

Meh.  Never a fan of Leivo's, but the return does seem marginalish.  Maybe Dubas is all negotiated-out for the time being.

Ixnay on the Gilman connection.

Don?t love the return, but the writing was on the wall for this one. Wish Leivo all the best, except in the win column.

Wishing Josh well, hope he gets to play and have a good career. He had a really good attitude
being up/down/up/down/left/right/A/B constantly. Hopefully that rep sees him through the future.

I don't think Leivo was in next year's plans, so I think Vancouver was probably as nice an opportunity as could be expected for him...I doubt Carcone was the best offer out there, and I can see Dubas thinking that this will reverberate well with the team.

I like Leivo better than Ennis. He seems to understand the defensive game/positioning better and has used his body effectively, especially this year. That said, I understand the move.
