I'm confident they'll still make the playoffs but what does it matter?  It's been about 15 years since they've played decent defensive hockey and they'll rightfully get clobbered.

I'm honestly not that confident about that anymore. They absolutely have to beat Montreal on Saturday if they want to continue controlling their own destiny. If they don't, they could find themselves on the outside looking in by the time the weekend is over.

Can't wait for Carlyle to blame Reimer for this one.

You thought he was blaming Reimer yesterday?

Well he seems to think his defensive strategies are working well enough because he hasn't changed that all year, so obviously the problem would be goaltending.

Yeah I really don't understand this line of argument. He said Reimer played just okay, which, after three stoppable goals against, seemed pretty accurate.  The team has defensive problems but Reimer isn't exactly inspiring confidence in the team right now.

That said, if Nonis had any guts he'd find a replacement for Randy right now to try and save the season.  The team has huge problems in the defensive end (including on the PK) that aren't solely or even primarily related to player talent.

They broke reimers confidence. He earned his keep last year. He should have been the #1 goalie this year from day one. Carlyle has ruined him pretty much single handedly. Reimer will be back next year with a new team and I'm sure he will do very well.

Yeah, I think Reimer asks for a trade after this season.  Its a pity if handled another way they could have coexisted for another year or so.  But c'est la vie.

22 shots in the 3rd period.

Yeah. One high shot total period seems to be about par for the course for the team right now. They had 20 in the 2nd period against Washington, and had good shot totals in the 1st periods against Anaheim and LA.

On the Ranger hit:

"It?s kind of a scary moment, one of those plays where I commit to hit someone without knowing if they are going to turn, so it?s just an unfortunate play," said Killorn, who added that he left Ranger a voice-mail message. "He kind of, as I?m going in to hit him, makes a quick turn play and I?m already committed at that point. I?m trying to think of what else I could have done, in my head you look back to prevent that, but it?s just a tough, quick-bang play."

This is a horribly officiated game.

This is typical Gord Dwyer garbage. He officiated the St. John's Leafs right out of the playoffs (their last year IIRC). He is an awful, awful, referee in my opinion. "It's all about you Gordo!" as the announcer said at the time, "It's all about you!" He seems to have a pretty special hate on for Toronto. I absolutely shuddered when I heard he made the jump to the NHL. Again, just my opinion.

There was a fan on the ice and TSN decided not to show it? WTF was that?

they likely don't want to give attention  to it, for fear the attention causes more people to do it.

Bingo. No need to give the guy his 15 seconds of fame.

Of course the Leafs beat two Western Conference teams then drop two within their division.  Of course.  Don't even push them to OT.

Wings are 5 back with 3 games in hand now.

The Leafs are the only team in the East with 71 games played. Everyone else has 1-3 less games played. It's making the standings pretty deceiving. I'm sure all the teams won't collect wins in all of their games in hand (I'm sure it's not even possible as some of them probably play each other, although the possibility of 3-point games exist there), but losing 3 in a row and 4 of their past 5 has destroyed that cushion they had over the other bubble teams.

And they play Montreal next.  What could possibly go wrong?

Probably good that they do.  Leafs tend to get up for games against Montreal.
