Lazy play by Matthews but what are the D men doing there.

Chipped it up to ol' reliable Hyman who got out-muscled by the defenceman.

I understand that but either put a little more on it or play it safe and throw it off the boards. I put more blame on him there than Hyman.

This is the turning point.  I'm not sure where they are starting at, or where they are turning too, but this is the turning point.

I would add that he was on the side of the ice where the benches are so there isn't any glass there to bounce it off of. And he had a Tampa player near those boards so it could have been even easier to pick off a clearing attempt there. He has in a tough spot either way.

But if Hyman's being billed as the defensive presence that makes the link click then it's absolutely something that he should be critiqued on.

Difference tonight has been goaltending. Both teams have been quick with chances. Tampa's a great team and we're keeping up. But Bishop has just been tighter in close and on shots from the point.

I don't know he's on his forehand there and easily could have banked it off the boards. That was the safer play. They always tell you not to throw it up the middle and to saucer it even worse. If he would have banked that off the boards Stamkos doesn't score. I would sooner take an icing than do what he did.

I tend to agree. Not a smart play by Matthews, but that'll change.

Fair enough. But I'm not entirely sure Babcock is preaching the "off the boards & out" play as much as our previous head coach did. I still think Matthews had the right idea in trying to maintain possession instead of just handing it over. The execution could have been better though.

Their young they'll make mistakes. The thing I see with some of these young guys is that have to learn they can't get too cute. Seen that since the start of the season. Some times you can get away with it but in this league in most cases it leads to a scoring chance by the opposition and sometimes a goal.

People can criticize Andersen all they want but anyone pretending the team's defense hasn't been absolutely atrocious is kidding themselves.
