I usually support Burke and Wilson but this is a bonehead move. Kadri is due for a few goals with his effort and skill. Its like putting a VW van in a race when you have a Porsche ready to go.

Maybe Burke is expecting a tough physical game and wants Rosehill out there to knock out someone's teeth.  Preferrably Alfreddson's  ;D

The Sens have nobody out there that Schenn, Komisarek, Phaneuf, Brown or even Lupul couldn't handle in the unlikely even that it is necessary.  The Sens aren't a tough team.

Playing Rosehill is a joke, period.

Phaneuf, Komisarek, Schenn, and Lupul all shouldn't be fighting, Lupul in particular. I don't mind when the first three drop the gloves from time to time, but it puts the team down to 5 defencemen which is never a good idea. So that leaves Brown, who is a middleweight at best and hasn't fought since returning from injury. Considering how injury-prone he is, I'd prefer he stay out of fights if possible.

As for the comment about the sens toughness, they rank 4th this season in total fights and Zenon Konopka leads the league in fights. And of course they have a number of other guys who can drop the gloves including Neil, who seems to excel in games where the opposing team doesn't have a heavyweight to hold him in check.

So yeah, I'd say it's pretty reasonable to have Rosehill in this game.

Zenon Konopka fights like a sissy.  He slaps more than he punches.

Putting Rosehill instead of Kadri in a line-up starved for offense.  Beautiful.  Kadri was one of the few bright spots the past few games.

Ron Wilson is out of his mind.

Kadri has the same number of points as Rosehill in the last 5 games.

I really don't see the big deal. Odds are, unless Rosehill completely overachieves, this is just a 1-game thing anyway.

Really disagree with this move, I'd rather they went with 7 defencemen ( Aulie ) for toughness than this ( and I don't want them to do that either ), Rosehill for Kadri seems like a punchline, so to speak...

If 'NK isn't going anywhere' then bloody well play him.

Exactly. Unless Rosehill really earns another game, this will be a 1 game thing, and, we're being totally honest, Kadri was pretty invisible over the last few games. Sticking him the press box for a night can also serve as a subtle reminder that he needs to keep working hard and contributing if he wants to stay in the line up every night.

This simply isn't true.  I can't think of more than a couple forwards who played better the past few nights.

Kadri needs to play at this point.  He's been given more than enough "reminders" the past few years and he's gotten the message.  Benching him (particularly over a poor playing Joey Crabb), even if it's just for one night, will do nothing but hurt the mental side of his development.

I won't disagree that he hasn't been great the past few games, but I also don't think he has really bad making too many bad moves.  Every so often he would get too fancy with the puck, but it wasn't like those things were really causing problems.  The only play that did result in a goal, the defenseman on the point collapsed into him and took away any ability to pass the puck so he kept dispsy-doodling along the blueline until he wasn't being blocked from making a pass.

As was mentioned above, you bench Kadri, but Joey Crabb can go silent and Lombardi can do nothing but skate into turnovers.  I would have removed both of them before removing Kadri from the lineup.  Especially with Bozak back that would have Kadri setting up with Connolly again.  Kadri's hardly perfect but I thought he was making some quality passes/shots that were either being fumbled, hit posts or were stopped by the goalie.

Personally I don't necessarily begrudge some toughness in the lineup but I'd rather see Kadri deke Carkner than Rosehill dance with him, well, unless as you say he's going to really dance...

If that's true Kadri will never be a NHL player. But it's not true, so nothing to worry about.

I heard he's locked in a room at the ACC right now, crying.

You're being blithely dismissive here, but the fact of the matter is that Kadri is undeservedly being held to a different standard than players like Crabb and Lombardi, and over time that gets in a young player's head.

Could it not also motivate him to try harder?

I'm sure it can but you also eventually get to a point where, you keep trying harder, then get shut down, and keep trying harder to only get shut down, again and again and eventually the person throws their hands up and says "eff it, whatever I do isn't working."

It's human nature, we've all been there before in some way.

MacArthur moved onto top line with Kessel and Bozak. Lupul drops to third unit with Connolly and Kadri.

Sorry that's Lombardi with Kessel and Bozak.

Lombardi certainly made an impression last night, didn't he?

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I get that the top line played kind of like crap the last little while, but I really don't think that was the solution.  More strange lineup changes.  I bet you after the first period without scoring Wilson puts Kessel and Lupul back together.

On the flip side, I'm intrigued to see what Kadri is capable of with good players on his line with him that should be able to finish or at least continue his playmaking abilities.

I think MacArthur is going to be a horrible fit for Kessel though.  He's soft, and while Lupul certainly isn't a power-forward, Lupul would go to the net that made a lot of Kessel's shots/slap passes far more dangerous.

(sorry - see above edit)... Siegel made a mistake... It's Lombardi on the top line.
