Marlies Talk 13/14

He only has played 18 games and see no injuries listed on the internet or any sports sites.

18 of 25 games isn't bad. He's been a regular on their blueline. But he did miss some time due to injury. The AHL isn't really good as listing them officially. Here's an article about him from late October:

Yes Carlton, lets hope so, I liked what I saw of him in preseason a lot.  When you think about it we have him, Percy and Holzer all in the wings with Finn coming soon. Not to mention Brennan who is tearing it up.
What is the word on Cresenzi, I didnt realise he was 6'5" . That is what we need in the middle, size.  Is he developing does he have any upside?

If he makes it at all it'll be as a 4th line centre. Think maybe a better version of Smithson.

He's got a case of the Lupuls. Was injured in training camp for awhile and then suffered another injury after returning. Story of his pro career so far really.

It seems to be that way for him. Well, I just noticed he was a starter for the Marlies yesterday, so that may be a good sign. Lets hope he can rebound from all that has happened and put some numbers up for the team in Spencers absence.

So the Marlies and Griffins played yesterday in an outdoor game to a crowd of over 20K. Marlies won 4-3 in a SO.

Carter Ashton is looking good since being sent down. He had a goal and a assist last night to give him 9 goals and 13 points in 11 games.

Other notables:

Abbot 28GP 30 Points, McKegg 24GP 15P.

I'm baffled that the AHL has five players in the shootout while the NHL only has three.  It should have been five in the NHL from the get go.

Holland scores first goal in first Game with the Marlies and wins first star.. Why is this guy not our 2nd or third line centre?

Scored 2 goals in his second game with the team tonight.

3 goals in two games?.I guess the Loaf don't need scoring power, they can win with their swarming D and stand on your head goaltending.  TJ Brennan should be up as well.

He's got nothing left to prove in the AHL.

Indeed, why Brennan is not in the NHL is beyond me. He is another lefty though correct?

I would bring Holland, Bodie and Brennan up and demote McLaren, Fraser and Ashton.

JvR/ Bozak/ Kessel
Raymond/ Holland/ Lupul
Kulemin/ Kadri/ Clarkson
D'Amigo/ McClement/ Bodie
Orr

Gardiner/ Phaneuf
Gleason/ Gunnarsson
Rielly/ Franson
Brennan/ Ranger

AND. ROLL. 4. LINES.

Agreed in total with BWB.  That is the squad that can win, I may want to keep  Home Alone Ashton on the 4th instead of Bodie but what the Hay.
Holland has nothing left to prove in the AHL exaclty like Brennan. Although Kadri if he could clear waivers may  learn a thing or two (but that won't happen).

It may be a tad late to do this, but Carlyle is a slow learner apparently. He should of at least been rolling 4 lines, the players are in the system to do this now IMO.

Bolland and Smith's return soon will force change anyway, but McClement being able to play the wind effectively may help out in terms of Holland's place on the team.

A Marlies update:

Some nice words about Kenny Ryan, which I've been hearing a lot of recently. I had pretty much written him off as a NHL prospect before the season largely because of his injuries, but he really seems to be developing into a pretty solid 4th liner. He's probably competing for the same line-up spot as D'Amigo and Jerry obviously has the head start right now but it's nice to see some competition.
