Marlies Talk

Hopefully D'Amico is just coming into his own then. I do remember him being very big for the US team at one of the Internationals. Lets hope he continues to do well in the playoffs and become a surprise for us. God knows we need some good news.

on D'Amigo, we should probably just wait and see a little bit longer before stamping his head as a "big game player" (as one person put it).  But nice to see so far.

Sometimes a playoff run is the coming out party for a player... maybe this is his, but to me he has AHL stalwart written all over him.

Realistically he tops out as a 3rd or 4th liner. So even with a good playoff run I wouldn't really get my hopes up.

What happened to Spencer Abbott?

I see on Hockeydb he played three games with the Marlies, getting one assist. Did he get hurt, is he a healthy scratch for the playoffs, or was he ineligible to dress for the playoffs in the first place?

I don't believe he's eligible. Considering the Marlies depth though, he probably wouldn't be playing even if he was.

Teams may also add signed draft choices and players signed to amateur tryout contracts, provided that their respective junior or college seasons are complete

He can play. Have to think the reason is somewhere in between the pecking order and, maybe, some precautions with his concussion.

My mistake, I didn't realize that he was with the Marlies on an ATO. Thought he was playing on his standard ELC, which of course wouldn't make any sense as he only signed a 1-year deal.

Yeah, I wasn't sure either but you peaked my curiosity and so with the digging! :)

Hope it's just a 'new guy' thing and not anything head related, though he did come back at college so maybe he's ok.

I wouldn't have my hopes up any higher than that either, but solid 3rd liners are valuable too, especially ones that are as good on the PK as he is, and of course can put in GWG's in the playoffs.  :)

For those questioning Rosehill, sounds like he's doing his job on the 4th line.

Lance Hornby ‏ @sunhornby

Marlies best line tonight might be their fourth. Greg Scott, Will Acton and Jay Rosehill getting regular shifts and pinning Amerks.

the 4th line has played well tonight ..pretty much every time they've been on they've been in the offensive zone...  as far as road games go the marlies have played this one perfectly ...it's not to say that one goal wouldn't change things drastically ..but they've put in 40 decent minutes
