Matt Frattin

Frattin placed on IR.  Sounds like he'll be out longer than just a week.

It was said at least a week, this gives them another roster spot for the week or two if they want to call someone up, wouldn't read a huge amount in to it.

the reality is whoever wins the cup this year will have an asterik beside it, as a strike shortened season. So in fact it will hold some hint of being tainted...And none of us believe the Leafs will win this year. Lets get Gardiner, Gunnerson, Frattin and Lupil completely healthy for next September when we will start to take a real run at the Cup

The other side of that is that one week is the minimum time a player can be on IR, so he has to be out at least a week to free up his roster spot even if it's possible he could be ready earlier.

That's not true, if one team has to play 48 games and all others have to play 82 games and the 48 game team wins the cup, sure an asterisk, but if it's a level playing field, no asterisk.

I'm sure Jersey fans don't complain that they won their first Cup in a shortened season.  Hell I'll take an asterisk with a Leafs cup win, Lord knows if we'll ever see one.

Do the devils have an asterisk beside their cup win?

That all depends.  Who are the keepers of the asterisks?  I checked hockeydb.com and there's no asterisk.
Edit: checked NHL.com -- no asterisk!

Season length, playoff structure, divisional alignments etc have changed so many times in the time the NHL has existed. There will be no asterisk here, regardless who wins.

I would argue that with the compressed yet shortened schedule, it would be (for lack of a better word) "easier" to win the President's Trophy this year than the average year and "harder" to win the Stanley Cup, since the playoffs would have just as many games and possibly more injuries due to the compressed schedule.

No, I'd say "easiness" would be determined strictly by the number of competitors.  There are 30 tesms trying to ein the cup this year just like last year.  This year it may be more difficult to predict in advance who will win.  I dont think that makes it easier for any chosen tesm to win.

On the other hand, winning the cup in the original 6 era was definitely easier.

I just wanted to point out that Matt Frattin is scoring at a higher rate than Sidney Crosby when you factor in time-on-ice.

Interesting stat.

Kadri is 8 spots back of players who have played at least 10 games.
