Mayor Rob Ford

Also there was an audio tape of him wasted at a bar where he made a few great comments:
- He wants to get it on with Karen Stintz  (well something along the lines of jamming her)
- He can't support Tim Hudak because of "the gays"

Is there a clip or transcript of this?

I read a transcript of it it on the National Post's website.

So, the whole world is against them ... when will these Fords quit??!!

So...Mayor Doug Ford?

Somehow it seems 'inappropriate' for Doug Ford to take over for his brother with the way things have encapsulated the entire Ford mayorship.

Then, on the other hand, it will make the mayor's race, right up to election
day, a lot more 'interesting' (know what I mean by that) having a Ford as part of it instead of out completely.

In the end, what really counts is going to be up to the electorate of this wonderful city of which I am a part of, to choose the person most capable to lead.  Hopefully, the individual chosen won't be part of a circus again!

Similar 'doesn't work well with others' concerns.  Lacks all of the charisma of Rob Ford and has similar political beliefs.  Ford could overcome sideshow antics by playing up being a man of the people (even though he really wasn't).  I don't see how Doug Ford holds any of the same support.

It's too bad RoFo is sick in hospital.  I wish him a speedy recovery.  That said, I'm glad he's not on the ballot.

DoFo doesn't have the experience.  He just said a couple weeks ago that he was looking forward to getting out of politics.

It's just another day in the life of the three-ring circus...

Yeah. Doug comes across as really stale and boring most of the time. Just absolutely no charisma - and, most of the screen time people will have had with him has been very negative, and where he's come across as angry, distrustful and antagonistic. He'll still get the votes from the Ford Nation purists, but, I don't think he has any hope of winning the election (I don't think Rob would have either, but, he may have had a chance).

Rob Ford has been diagnosed with malignant liposarcoma, a rare type of cancer.  His doctor says he is "optimistic" and the mayor will undergo two rounds of chemotherapy immediately.  (680News)

It's really not a good cancer.  Retroperitoneal liposarcomas have a pretty high recurrence rate at 5 years, and it's prone to long-term recurrence at 10 years.  Given that's it's already metastatic (pleomorphic liposarcoma is more responsive to chemotherapy but is also more prone to spread) this isn't going to be a very easy fight for Ford.  Primary goal of therapy for this tumor in the abdomen is usually surgical excision with the goal of negative margins and that they are going with chemotherapy to try and shrink the tumor leads me to believe that there are concerns about resectability.

I know someone who lives with a retroperitoneal mass.  It was thought to be carcinoma but further diagnosis proved negative.  Surgery was ruled out due to the individual's weak state (low hemoglobin levels).  This person mentioned to me that he/she needs  transfusion of blood every six months.
Not a good condition to have but the individual continues his/her daily living even though he/she is no longer employable and survives on a pension.

In general 5-year survival ranges anywhere from 20-45% for metastatic (cancer that has spread from the original site) liposarcoma if the primar cancer is found in the retroperitoneum (pretty much inside the abdomen).

:-* :(

I don't think I saw anywhere what stage the cancer is in?!  Anyone?

doctor never said. I watched coverage on various news channels and at least two (CTV and Global) pointed out that the doctor specifically did NOT mention a stage...

As much as I hate Rob Ford and the Ford family with every fiber of my being, I would never wish cancer on anyone, nor would I wish the guy anything that causes him not to be able to life a full and normal life (assuming he would finally choose to do so).

But Rob needs to quit the race for councilor as much as it was right to quit the race for Mayor.  Focus on yourself, man. Be there for your family.

They asked the doctor specifically about the stage of cancer he was in and the doctor wouldn't answer the question.
