They traded for Ingram a little while back. They're not looking for a 4th goalie.McDavid obviously wants to win a Cup. He's buying them a good player.
They'll probably be in on the three goalies on the waiver wire. Not sure why they wouldn't offer a low round pick to get one.
Pickard can be waived to make room. Dipietro, Daws and Stevenson are all at around $800k - less than Pickard
But I don't know why they wouldn't have done more except that none were practically available. They'll have money this upcoming summer to land a UFA if any are available.
I'm absolutely baffled they are going into the season with the same fricking goaltending tandem. What a steal of 2 years.
Absolutely no reason why it can't be the Leafs. His extension expires the same time as Matthews. They could pick a team together.
Screw the nhl and it’s god awful cap. They should be embarrassed that the best player in league does something like this.
Upgrade from McJesus to McGod! Won't happen though because AM34 wants $20M...Absolutely no reason why it can't be the Leafs.
Yes. A perfect comparison to mcdavid making 12.5 million and Brady making what, somewhere between 25-50 million a season?Tom Brady took below market deals for basically his entire career.

Considering they didn't make a claim on any of the goalies that were waived . . .I'm not so sure. There are a number of opinions like this:
Utah retained $800,000 of his salary and got future considerations (nothing) from the Oilers.![]()
Connor Ingram Is Not The Edmonton Oilers Savior
Let's get one thing straight: Connor Ingram is a good story. The journeyman goaltender who battled through OCD and anxiety to find his footing in the NHL deserves respect. But if you're an Oilers fan hoping he's the answer to Edmonton's perpetual goaltending question, we need to have a hard...thehockeynews.com
He cleared waivers Sept 25th or so - nobody wanted him.
That's the best Edmonton, a Stanley Cup contender, can do? They can't improve on that?
Having said that, Stevenson, Dipietro and Daws all have warts of some kind. Maybe they're no improvement.
But Skinner and Pickard seem like the weakest link for the Oilers. McDavid won't re-sign if they're still the goalies two years from now.
Considering they both expire at the end of this year, perhaps that was his caveat. Are there any names coming up at the end of this year? Bobrovsky? But Skinner and Pickard seem like the weakest link for the Oilers. McDavid won't re-sign if they're still the goalies two years from now.
They all had warts. They passed on Primeau too. One could make the argument that none of these goalies were better than Skinner or Pickard at this time. One of them might develop ...Considering they didn't make a claim on any of the goalies that were waived . . .
They're clearly comfortable with the duo they've been running with, or they would have found a way to a bigger move in the offseason. None of the goalies that hit the waiver wire move the needle. They're all 3rd string guys or middling backups. For whatever reason, the Oilers still seem to believe Skinner has it in him to be the guy, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
and Markstrom. Those are the two obvious and appealing ones.Considering they both expire at the end of this year, perhaps that was his caveat. Are there any names coming up at the end of this year? Bobrovsky?
Maybe they have something lined up with Carter Hart .. though that would be quite a leap in a short period of time after what he has been through. He is a UFA that doesn't have to clear waivers ... Edmonton would present a good shot at a Cup plus not stiff competition to win the starter's job.Considering they didn't make a claim on any of the goalies that were waived . . .

Didn't know that.Hart reportedly is not interested in playing for a Canadian team.
This is sarcasm, right? McDavid’s contract would be easy to move at 16-18 million. People would make space.Extremely movable contract on that second year if McDavid wants. Recipient team would have no issue making 12.5 fit.
Bowman immediately turning around to sign some depth schlubs at over-market rates.
Another Leafs pipe dream up in smoke.
