Men's Olympic hockey

Doughty has been very good this tournament.  The defense as a whole have really been good.

Does anybody have a better website to look at this stuff than Yahoo? They seem to be kind of slow at updating this.

The Swiss (or, possibly, the Latvians) it is!

Are you sure you mean Latvia? They finished 0-3.

100%. The pairings for the "qualification round" are 5th vs 12th, 6th vs 11th, 7th vs 10th, and 8th vs 9th - and, their opponent in the QF is in the reverse order that I listed those pairings (i.e. 4th place gets the winner of 5 vs 12). Latvia finished 11th, ahead of Norway on goal differential.

Canada has struggled to finish in all three games.  That is very concerning heading into the elimination round.

Also not winning in regulation puts them against a tougher opponent.  I haven't seen enough from this team to be convinced that they can beat the heavyweights at this point.

Same thing in Vancouver no? Took a shootout to beat the Swiss. We know how that turned out...

I didn't realize that every team made it through to the next round. Can you send me a link to a decent website that explains all this so I can follow it? The ones I have been using don't have that info, so I am trying to follow along by guessing.

They sucked in Salt Lake and Vancouver in the round robin. Relax.

I don't have one, unfortunately. It's just what I've picked up through what the guys on CBC have been talking about and various hockey people on Twitter.

And, as I'm typing this, Mirtle tweeted out this, which is all we need to know:

Russia and Switzerland both have 6 points... Switzerland has more regulation wins while Russia has the better goal differential.

In the NHL Switzerland would have gotten the higher seed but I guess the rules here are different.
