New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals

Klesla threw him into the boards head first, sorry that's not a hockey play. It may have been born out of a typical situation but then that could be said for a lot of them.

The principle point of contact against Girardi wasn't his head from what I've seen.

Carlton you are really out to lunch with this feet on the ice thing.  He was 6 inches off the ice!!!  And if he hit his shoulder I doubt Girardi has a cut in the middle of his forhead.  And if you look at the Torres hit he actually did have a foot on the ice when contact was made with Hossa but hey don't let the facts get in the way.

I'm not sure what replay you're watching. Ovechkin's left (edit: I meant right) blade was completely on the ice when the initial point of contact was made. A portion of both of Torres' skates were off the ice when his hit was thrown. With that said, I do think Torres' suspension was too long. The NHL clearly tried to throw the book at him to take the attention off of their lesser/nonexistent suspensions.

I also don't think Giradi was bleeding after the hit. There's a cut on his forehead that was stitched up from a previous incident I think. I didn't see any blood on the ice or on his sweater.

Here is a frame by frame look at Torres hit if it works???

Torres feet are on the ground when hit happens.  He is hitting up which is what causes it to be a head shot.  The same rationale should be used to assume that while Ovie hits shoulder first he is propelling himself upward and should expect that he would hit Girardi's head as he goes.  That makes it reckless and he is a repeat offender.  In my opinion when you give Torres 25 games then you have to back it up when dealing with other hits.

Sorry Carlton you may be right about cut.  I am actually not against Ovie hit but pissed that Torres gets hit with 25 games for a hit that is not significantly worse than several seen in the post season.  And I don't think injury should play any part in sentence, why should it matter if one person is tougher than another when doling out discipline for similar actions??

I don't think that's a perfect image since you can't actually see when the contact was made. It could very well be between the 3rd and 4th frames in which case Torres doesn't have a full blade on the ice. Either way, the jump wasn't exactly the only reason Torres was suspended. It was also a charge and a blindside, and I'd argue those factors weren't present in the Ovechkin hit.

A blindside??  Torres hit him straight on.  I will stop writing about this as Torres is a terror and everyone else gets benefit of doubt on hits this off season.  Last word from me is that I see Ovie hit, and Neil on Boyle as very little difference than Torres hit except for result and suspension.

But you don't see anything wrong with the hit on Halischuk, forgive me if I don't follow.

First of all Klesla didn't "hit" Halischuk. As I wrote before he was guiding him to the boards and when Halischuk tried to stop him he was pushed into the boards. I agree that it is a penalty but that is all it is.  It doesn't deserve a hearing. Anyone who watched it should be able to clearly see that there was no intent for that ending and Klesla was neither reckless or careless. You want to see a boarding that should have been a suspension take a look at the Hayes hit on Roszival that had no hearing. NHL discipline has no consistance to it, it's becoming a joke!!

I've been watching this game since the halfway point of the second, and haven't seen Mr. and Mrs. Holtby once. What's going on? Are they OK?

That high stick by Ward was one of the dumbest things I've seen a hockey player do in quite some time considering the the game situation. I mean, with seconds left and on a crucial face-off, at what point toes a fella think, "you know, now would be a good time to two hand tomahawk someone in the face?"

Yup, cost them the game.
