I think it'll be more than that. Unlike around here, my guess is NHL GMs see some value in him. I'm not saying the return will be great, but, it'll probably be more like a 3rd rounder rather than a 6th rounder.

I hope you're right, but with the Marlies losing skid, he might just be worth more for the rest of the season to them, than he is to let go in trade.

Unless we (Leafs) go through a major injury problem, I don't even think he can help the Leafs. With what you can get with a 5-7 round pick, he may be worth more to the Marlies in the end.

A 3rd would be awesome! Let's hope you're right on this Busta.

are we talking about the same Tim Connolly? I think anything better than a 5th round pick would be a gift.. Didn't he already pass through waivers and none one wanted for free?

He did but things change from the start of the season to the trade deadline. Teams want to evaluate what they have and our high on in house options at the beginning of the season. Then injuries take hold, in house options fizzle out or teams look for that extra piece to take them to a playoff birth.  You can't compare the two time frames as they are night and day.

There had been rumors that Pitts. had been interested in Kule and as far as I'm concerned if we got a 3rd rounder for him it would be a miracle. I can't believe this guy got 30 goals 2 years ago, 7 last year and it looks like 3 this year, actually I'd be surprised if got that many this year. I'm certain Connolly could provide the same level of defense, he'd do it a different way but results would be approximately equal, and I think Connolly could contribute to TO's offense. I'm way over Kule, get rid of him.

Except that a team reportedly offered a 1st for Kulemin at the deadline last year.

He's still a commodity around the league even though I think more of us are starting to think of him as a really good 3rd liner rather than a bonafide top 6 forward.

Yup this.  I think most of us here understand that Kuly's 30 goal season was the anomaly, not the last few seasons.  But Kule is way better on defensively than Connolly...

On top of that, he's quietly (very quietly!) amassed 10 points this season, so he's nonetheless contributing offensively.

If there was some chemistry between Malkin and Kulemin...his trade value might be more for Pittsburgh then it is for the Leafs.  What would Pittsburgh offer that makes sense?

Penguins may give up a first which would be a low pick and I am not sure that would interest me.  They have nothing really on the big club  of any use that Kulemin would net.  Their  main prospect base is deepest at D, which really isn't what we need either.  Despite the Pens likely having the most interest in Kulemin they really aren't a great trading partner.  Anyway we look at it we would be selling low.

Dont write him off as a top six just yet, I think we will see more good from him soon.

According to Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star, the Leafs are searching the trade market for yet another top-six center as well as a top-fourdefenceman.

According to the report, Zwolinski lists Mike Ribeiro of the Washington Capitals as a possible trade target.

If he puts up consistent points with Kadri we might get a Versteeg return for him. 1st and a 3rd.

But if he starts to do that... why don't we keep him for our own playoff push?

It would be a mistake to trade Kulemin, just to quote Kadri: Kule is a horse out there, he never tires off...

I think any thought of dealing him is just way out there. Kulimen is a solid part of the team, a tough forward who any team would love to have at least three of. and believe me his scoring will come back.

Terrible Kulemin is good defensively and in a not-great offensive season is on 40 point pace.  The "I hate Kulemin and I would take a bag of stinky socks for him" is really kind of absurd.

I really hope there's no merit to the Ribiero speculation.  Not only is this a band-aid that doesn't really address the need for a foundational-type in the 1'st centre position, but I believe it would take away from the continued development of Kadri.  Kadri, to me, is a more complete player, but the two occupy a similar space as players.  Not to mention, I really don't care much for Ribiero although I would admit he seems to have matured with somewhat with age.

Ribeiro really bugs me, he acts like such a punk on the ice.  Sure he may have skill but I don't like some of his stupid antics. Really don't want him on the Leafs.
