I don't think the Luongo deal is going to happen.  I mean if those reports about pressure to make a Luongo deal were true, we'd be hearing all sorts of leaks from the usual sources (Dreger etc).  I'd imagine if the deal was to be made, the Leafs would want it done before game 1 which means right now.

Like I said in another thread, I have a feeling that the opportunity to make that trade is starting to slip away.

Gillis appears to be ready to gamble that once the season starts other teams will recognize a need to upgrade in net and give him more than whats being offered by the Leafs or Panthers.

Gillis is saying out here that he's had a lot of interest and the contract has not been mentioned...so in lawyerese it means that one team didn't mention it but all the others probably did. It would be pretty negligent to not use that as a chip.

Anyone else hearing rumours on Ryan Miller being traded to Toronto?

:)

OT: I did notice that Gustavsson, who is out with another groin problem, got a modified NTC so the Leafs probably aren't at the top of his list. It did surprise me some that he got a modified NTC.

That's funny.

I thought the plan was to upgrade the goaltending. :P

Seems like a good time to hold Holland's feet to the fire and get a decent pick from them.

They should, but they won't, because they can't.

No one's giving up a 1st round pick for a defenseman who's fighting for a regular job.

Leafs GM Nonis on The Fan 590, made a reference to some interest in forward Tim Connolly (currently with the Marlies), from various teams...

Just looked up his AHL stats, is there a reason he's only played in 12 games?  Doesn't seem to be lighting up the AHL by any means so I would wonder where the "interest" is coming from.

Edit: duh, it's like I'm in a haze and forgot there was a lockout.  LOL

Could be a result of injuries hitting a team.
