I mean if those reports about pressure to make a Luongo deal were true, we'd be hearing all sorts of leaks from the usual sources (Dreger etc). I'd imagine if the deal was to be made, the Leafs would want it done before game 1 which means right now.
Like I said in another thread, I have a feeling that the opportunity to make that trade is starting to slip away.
Gillis appears to be ready to gamble that once the season starts other teams will recognize a need to upgrade in net and give him more than whats being offered by the Leafs or Panthers.

BlueWhiteBlood said:Red Wings GM Ken Holland has been looking for a defenseman before injuries to three of his own players and could shift his search into high-gear this week.
With Jonathan Ericsson and Jakub Kindl already out day-to-day, the Wings lost Carlo Colaiacovo last night to a hand injury that will see him miss weeks of action.
Holland has expressed an interest in Toronto Maple Leafs rearguard Cody Franson, and it's possible he could revisit those talks as early as today.
Second time I've heard that Detroit is looking at Franson. Is this maybe something that we could turn in our favour and get more for Franson than he may be worth? What is he worth in a normal market?
Franson to Detroit for Joakim Andersson and a pick? Or no pick? What say people on what Detroit could help us with?

OT: I did notice that Gustavsson, who is out with another groin problem, got a modified NTC so the Leafs probably aren't at the top of his list. It did surprise me some that he got a modified NTC.
