Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Regin likely done for season

Peter Regin?s season is likely over.

The Senators centre wasn?t on the ice Thursday morning at Scotiabank Place after his surgically repaired left shoulder stiffened up and he?s going to have to decide whether he?s going to have another procedure to get it repaired.

Regin won?t be in the lineup against the Florida Panthers and he?s out indefinitely.

Winger Bobby Butler returns and defenceman Brian Lee will be in the lineup with the club carrying seven blueliners.

?It happened during the game (Tuesday) and it stiffened up on him,? said coach Paul MacLean Thursday.

?I think it?s very frustrating for Peter. For us, he?s an important player we think a lot of, but it?s devastating for him.

?He has to make the decision what?s best for him. I know (surgery) is one of the options.?

Regin originally suffered the shoulder injury last February.

He had surgery, took it easy in training camp and re-injured the shoulder in October. He missed 22 games and only returned Dec. 10 against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Senators were hopeful with the arrival of centre Kyle Turris from the Phoenix Coyotes, the club would have plenty of depth down the middle.

?We did enjoy the depth that Peter gave us on the third line for one game,? said MacLean.

Winger Milan Michalek (concussion) was on the ice with the team for the second straight day, but didn?t have any contact and won?t play until after Christmas.

He is expected to suit up Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Sad to say but the dudes career could be over.

I think Lombardi is going to suffer the same fate.  Perhaps not career threatening yet, but I think because he's avoiding surgery he's very susceptible to re-injuring it and causing a lot more problems/damage in the long run.  Because he missed a full year I don't blame him for trying to hold off on surgery and giving it a shot- I just fear it's probably the wrong move in the long run.

Your team is starting to annoy me.

Stop pretending you are good.

Way to hire a fully competent coach, btw.

Maybe we're heading back into an age like the late 90s, early 2000s when the Leafs and Sens would always make the playoffs and the Habs were out?

I'm not ready to count the Habs out yet but it's getting close to being a 10 count yeah.

That entire province is going to implode if they don't start winning soon.  Soo much off ice drama its ridiculous.

Yes a B.O.O. would be fun to see again. But it would be more fun for us on this side of the rivalry to see the Sens finish 9th. ;)

I know I can see that province from my window - the foothills of the Gatineaus are in a state of emergency right now. Flames as high as the sky.

There's a pub here in Ottawa for displaced Leaf fans called "The 9th Place". I'm pretty sure the Leafs own the territorial rights of 9th place in the Eastern Conference - we wouldn't want any legal problems with a team worth gazillions!

Cheese!  ;D

Nice one!

Not much I can say to come back from that one.  Having never lost in the Battle of Ontario its hard to understand what it would be like for you.  Booyakasha!

Peter Regin?s season is likely over.

He's an RFA this summer, what do you do?  21 points in 65 games over the past two seasons, with two season ending injuries.

He seems like a good kid, and shows flashes of potential every once in the while, but he hasn't done much to earn another contract.

Yes he's RFA - you qualify him! I don't think he's going to be shooting for the moon next summer $ wise. Shoulder injuries are never good, but a lot of people said the same thing about Sami Salo when he was here and going through the same kind of shoulder injuries / operations. He's made of glass yeah but he's still going.

You got game Flake!

Mark Stone with both Canada goals so far tonight, puts him at 5 in 3 games.

I'm really feeling a Hodgson/Eberle-esque coming out party.    This year's world juniors are gonna put him on the map.

He's a highly touted Ottawa prospect - which means, his production will disappear once the games start to mean something.

Michalek back against the Habs tomorrow night -

That's good news - the Habs have kind of had our number the last little while hopefully we can kick them while they're down!

Can both teams lose?

Although, as much as I'd like the Leafs to put some space between them and the Sens, I'm thoroughly enjoying the Habs struggles.

After day two..

Stone - 4G
Zibanejad - 2G

Zibanejad leading the tournament with 15 shots...meaningless stat fist pump!

Apparently it was the Jason Spezza show at the Sens skills comp..LINK.

"In what may be the final twist in the saga that has been Nikita Filatov's season, Dmitry Chesnokov reports that Filatov was hurt just two games into his KHL season and will be sidelined indefinitely..." I think it's time for Filatov to have a 1 on 1 with the Hockey Gods - clearly they are upset with him.

Huberdeau's really making Stone look good. :P

I'd agree with you if Huberdeau was his line-mate in Brandon also. This Stone kid is going to be a hit here in Ottawa - if he isn't already. He reminds me of Heatley - slot shark.
