Boo-ya!  Was at this one...Sabres did not look too interested, I'm not sure what's up with Miller this year but he looked pretty ordinary..

Sabres not interested?  There's a cure for that.

They play us tomorrow.  Always brings out the best in em.

I don't understand why the Leafs have such a hard time with Buffalo.

You and me both.

I can't remember the exact number but the Leafs had something like 1 win in 14 games in Buffalo at some point last year.  It doesn't make much sense.  You would think even dumb luck they'd win a couple.  And it's not as if the Sabres are or have been some super power or something.  Buffalo and Toronto have been pretty similar for a while.

Anyways, I just don't get it.

Well you guys should be able to take care of business tomorrow night - Sabres look done mentally on top of their depleted roster.

I thought we outplayed them last game - but once again penalties did us in.

You guys are what - middle of the pack in TS? We're the 8th most penalized team in the league so far, we finished as 9th most penalized team last season, 8th again in '09-10. My point? I can't remember..

OTT is 30th in GA

Really?  Again?

That's upsetting.

But hey we're 7th in GF... we were supposed to have great difficulty scoring this year.

But we also traded the best goalie in the league to Colorado for a guy we gave $13 million to in order to improve that number.

How many GA did we have at this point last year?

Gaustad dodges suspension for hit on Winchester
Senator concussed, but Shanny won't hold hearing

NHL VP of safety Brendan Shanahan has decided not to hold a hearing after reviewing the unpenalized hit from behind on Senators forward Jesse Winchester Tuesday.

Buffalo Sabres centre Paul Gaustad could get away with a $2,500 fine or even a warning. The Senators, meanwhile, will be without Winchester indefinitely with a concussion. He was at the rink Wednesday, but still feeling groggy.

?He still has headaches and everything that goes with it,? said coach Paul MacLean.

MacLean felt the hit warranted a second look.

?I thought it was a very dangerous play,? said MacLean. ?It was a bigger man hitting a smaller man, which is part of it, I believe but also the stick being across the hips and running up to behind his head was the dangerous part.?

Winchester is a role player, but he has played a big role for the Senators. Injured in camp, he missed the first six games of the season but has been playing well since returning. His spot will be taken by Bobby Butler.

Butler, a healthy scratch after the arrival of Kyle Turris from Phoenix, has only two goals this season.

?(Butler?s) worked really hard off the ice and with the puck. He?s done really good things that way. He?s a (plus-6) player on the team,? said MacLean. ?Unfortunately, the expectation is also that he?s going to shoot the puck in the net and that hasn?t happened for him.?

After seeing the video, I'm okay with the decision.  I would have just given Gaustad a boarding penalty, looked more like an accident to me, I don't think there was any intent on Gaustad's part.  Gaustad got a little aggressive battling for the puck and it had unfortunate consequences.  Yeah, I think the refs made a mistake, Ottawa probably should have gotten a five minute power play.  But the game's over, we won anyway, and you can't fix a missed call by suspending him.

I think 9/10 when that kind of thing happens there is no significant injury.  Also, if the situations reversed and Winchester dumped Gaustad into the boards, and was suspended, I'd be upset about it.

Meh...I agree and I don't. That's two direct head shots  <Alfie & Winch> that have concussed / knocked guys out of our roster without any consequences. With everything going on in the league and media with concussion-mania it's equally frustrating and confusing. I mean there wasn't even a penalty called on Gaustad.

Bummer, man.  Shane Prince got cut from the US WJC team.

EDIT: And Regin is out again with an injury to the same shoulder.  May get surgery again.  Poor kid can't catch a break.

The 39-year-old Alfredsson told the Ottawa Sun he?s talked with former Toronto superstar Mats Sundin and Detroit defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom to help decide when to hang up his skates.

PISS OFF SUNDIN YOU STUPID OVERRATED EX-CANUCK.

Some surprising news out of practice this morning as apparently Peter Regin as re-injured his shoulder and is considering surgery.  No timeline for his return but this is obviously a major setback for the forward.

That's probably it for Regin for the season - he opted to not have surgery in October, don't think he can put it off anymore.

Jesus, Ferret, what did we do to piss off the refs?

Foligno got tossed for "charging".

EDIT: And the Panthers tie it up on the 5:00 PP.  Those refs better hope that doesn't affect the outcome.

EDIT2: Reviewing FLA goal for a kicking motion.  $20 says it doesn't go our way.

EDIT3: Surprise, surprise.  It counts.
