Oilers @ Leafs - Oct. 12th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

5-1 to start the season but a team not even hitting their stride yet, lets face it we haven't played that well.  Guys hurt, suspended, cards seem to be falling perfectly for once, this may just be a special season.  This was simply all kinds of awesome tonight.

I can't believe how we're winning , just mystifies me

Trade Clarkson.

I really wouldn't mind seeing him on the 3rd line.
Kessel-JVR-Bozak
Lupul-Raymond-Kadri
Clarkson-Bolland-Kulemin
Bodie-McLement-Broll
(McLaren/Orr can buzz off)

That actually looks solid. As long as those top-9 forwards are playing in the top-9 our forward group is going to look pretty darn good regardless. We should pretty much be guaranteed another top-10 finish in goals.

Yeah I'm mystified that the team is 5-1. I've yet to see them play a solid 60 minutes.

How do you get a 3-on-1?  And wow Dubnyk is lots of bad.  And Taylor Hall's mom is sad.

Frankly I don't think they had enough close-ups of Taylor Hall's family. I wanted to hear more speculation on how his parents felt about the game.

Speculation? I want to see their post game pressers.

Rollercoaser game of fun.

Yeah, this game was always going to be a barn-burner. I'm glad we pulled it out, Lupul is back to his old self!

JvR for Schenn.... LOL. But seriously, JvR is all kinds of fantastic. I think I've been most impressed with his penalty killing, he's really stepped up in Kulemin's absence.

Maybe Bernier needs to shave even more off the size of his pads? :P

Fraser and Clarkson will help our softer side we seem to have reverted to lately. Like you said, fun game!

Obviously I'm jazzed by the win tonight and by the start in general but I agree with the people who say that the Leafs haven't really impressed as a whole in any one particular game. That said, I do think the last few games have been a little coloured by the fact that not only are the Leafs missing two of their top 6 wingers, they're missing the two of their top six wingers who, hopefully, add a particular dimension I think they've been missing and would go a ways towards improving them a bit. Right now, who's in the top 6 that could be described as a physical player? Kadri? Bozak? JVR? If that's your grit and sandpaper you aren't going to be a well-rounded team. Kulemin and Clarkson should add that dimension and I think we'll be a lot more impressed by the team overall if they can play more of a grind it out style in addition to the counter-punching we've seen.

I agree, tonight the Leafs really held back physically for some reason and seemed to be caught off guard by the speed of the Oilers. Clarkson would have made a huge difference imposing himself physically. Kulemin too.
