Panthers @ Leafs - Dec. 17th, 7:00pm - LeafsTV, SN 590

Fired Carlyle. Can't replace whole team. I think got a good core to build with but need new leadership. Who is available? Brent Sutter works well with young team. If they don't work he gets rid of them.

I have criticisms of Carlyle, don't get me wrong, but it's a two way street, when the players play like crap I'm not sure how you blame anyone else.

Well, really, it comes down to this - the crux of the issue is either that the players aren't good enough or the way the coach is using the players isn't good enough. Replacing the players is a long and difficult process, whereas replacing the coach is relatively easy. So, before you go down the long and more difficult road, you make the easy change and see what kind of impact that has. Firing Carlyle isn't necessarily the solution, but, as far as I'm concerned, it's the first step towards figuring out what the solution may be.

Didn't even know there was a game tonight.

Me neither and they lost to Florida again?  Although I guess it's not as big of a deal they are only a few games behind now.  ::)

Is Carlyle making a serious run at getting canned before the Winter Classic or what?

Is it a slightly complicating factor here that Nonis, by his own admissions throughout the off season, built this team for the current coach? Re-signing Bozak and Fraser, trading for Bolland, dumping Grabo and MacArthur, paying through the nose for Clarkson -- all of these were moves advertised, in the first place, as giving the coach the team he thought he needed. "I can tell you Randy's very happy." If wonder whether Nonis can dump Carlyle now, since he spent the off season making a bed for the two of them.

No one could have said it better.

You tell 'em, Reims!

Reimer for captain?

Is holding the stick a suspendable offence?

He does this, probably, 5 times a game.  It's such a dumb*** thing to do....  I'm surprised he hasn't been penalized more for it...

God I HATE that guy...

He's never going to start again.

Wouldn't surprise me if he (quietly) wants out.  He goes from starter posting a season .924 SV% (helping the team into the playoffs for the first time in years) to being played once every 2-3 games, if that.

Obviously something is wrong. I do not get how come half of the team is not game ready, mentally and it appears sometimes also physically. Kudos to Reims.
