That will come back but I feel like this is not a good outcome of the rule to have something a quarter inch offside get called back.  That really wasn't a play where Matthews benefitted from being ahead of the play.

We wouldn't even need this rule if the refs could watch 10 players on the ice

Agreed, I mean if he had been onside, that still would have been a goal.  The rule is the rule though, and I am not sure how you make that a grey area and make it fair.

There really isn't a way to do it.  Although I think a quick fix is not letting teams review the play for a minute before challenging.  Challenge the call right away or let it stand

And you don't get an HD view from the bench.  You get grainy 480i output from a tube t.v. mounted behind the bench.  The ref gets 4k though.
