Penguins @ Leafs - Feb. 17th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

We have the 7th best penalty kill in franchise history right now.  Chipping away at key pieces of our PK and defensive bottom 6 is a bad idea.

Holy F Engvall 2 on 1 and you throw the puck in the corner.
Thought he was passing it to himself...not a shorter Kase

Wouldn't hurt to see him, Holl and Dermott shipped out by the deadline.

Why in the world would you want to get rid of Engvall?  Holl and Dermott you can debate about, but Engvall is really good on the PK and as a bottom 6 player.

Too soft for his size and bottom 6 players can be easily replaced. Disappears too much for me.

No offense, but this really is cliched thinking.  He's not a bruiser but he uses his size and reach really effectively on both sides of the puck.  He's not easily replaced.
Not comparing him but Lidstrom was a big man that never hit people. Body position, reach, good stick can be more effective then hitting a guy...I like Engvall in the bottom 6.

I don't expect him to crush people but he's similar to Nylander. Shy's away from the rough stuff. Games get physical they disappear. At just over a million per he can be replaced.

Agree, which is why I mentioned Holl who is good on the PK.

Agree on that, although I do think that any replacement for Holl (assuming a middle pairing upgrade) would have to be a similar quality defensive player that could penalty kill.

We have limited bullets in the trade deadline gun.  I'm not wasting assets to replace Engvall but I will advocate for upgrading the defense core and I think getting an upgrade of Holl at 5 on 5 would be worth the potential risk to the PK.

Same old Azzurri. Looking for the cloud for every silver lining.

I would look to replace Holl in too 4 but keep him on bottom pairing, if possible. I think the Leafs need a puck mover to play with Muzz and that's why the duo struggles. Both Muzz and Holl play better away from each other because they're defensive guys first. They don't need to be ouck movers killing penalties...just hammer it out.

Absolutely...he's more driven and getting better and better as the season goes on. I think he's the best complete player in the league this season. You notice him on both sides of the puck every game.

He started improving defensively last year, maybe even the year before, but now he could be a legitimate Selke candidate.  Probably won't ever win it but he should be in the conversation.

Again, I agree although if Holl's cap hit stands in the way of that 2nd pairing upgrade I'm content kicking him out the door.  Ideally we can pull it off by moving something more along the lines of Dermott/Ritchie

One thing I see with Auston is he seems to be carrying the puck more, using his body to protect it and his body to knock guys off the puck to gain possession. He's using his size more and because of it is creating more chances for him and his line mates. You can go back to my comments about him in years past and always said if he ever got mean or used his body more it would make him an even better player than he was and in my opinion he's doing that and yes Guilt Trip I agree with you he is the most complete player this year.

If players like Engvall who have the size used it more to their advantage it would help at both ends of the ice. I don't see it happening. Some players just don't have it and may never get it. That's the frustration with Nylander over the years and lately he's back to that thus the criticism.

Tough break for Campbell.  Made the first save.  Got the rebound and the third chance gets in
