Predators @ Leafs - Feb. 7th, 7:30pm - SN, TSN 1050

I liked Babs playing Matthews with the 4th line but please no Komarov. I'd sooner see him promote Kap and put Marner with him for the extra shift.
Polak was pretty good tonight with Dermott. Kid looks good for sure. Kaps/Dermott are not going anywhere unless it's temporary to make room for Sosh. Both are keepers.
Preds are a really good team. Love how their D pinch all the time.

So...was that a dive by Subban in the third? He looks totally fine now. Didn't even miss a shift.
I don't think he dove but if he did, it worked. The refs shouldn't have blown it dead tho, the Leafs had the puck.

Then you are talking about playing 3 lines..
From time to time there is no reason to not throw an extra shift to matthews. I just don't like it being with Komarov as one of the wingers. He has no offence.

Especially liked Kapanen out there, his speed, skill, and penalty-killing.  He's a keeper, and one to improve even more over time.

Overall, despite Nashville leaning heavily on the Leafs in the third with Freddy dumbfounding the Predators again and again, this was a satisfactory win, and the Leafs showed their mettle in going head-to-head against one of the NHL's big, tough, & best teams.

A good test.  Important win.  Good psychological & confidence booster.

Just saw a highlight of the Kapanen score, and as someone mentioned earlier ... I agree, typical Martin moves on that one. Martin may have a quicker first step though.

He's the team's MVP this year, hands down.

Agreed and by some distance too.

Matthews' goals per game this season is 4th in the league, which is a pretty impressive accomplishment. I agree I'd give Andersen the nod there but Mats is right behind him still to me.

Don't misunderstand me, this young Matthews fellow is quite good.  But no Dane, no Gain.

Wheee...

Roman Josi was also drafted with a pick (38th in 2008) that had actually originally belonged to the Leafs.  The Leafs sent that pick to Arizona in the Yanic Perreault trade, and Arizona later sent the pick to Nashville, who selected Josi.

Fortunately, Perreault had 5 points in 17 games for the Leafs, so it all worked out.

The Weber pick was never the Leafs though. If Nashville received that for the belfour signing that was just a new pick the league created not the Leafs pick they had to give up for signing him.

As much as I love Andersen, part of me still misses Belfour. They don't make them quite that crazy any more.

Yes, I know.  That's why I said the Josi pick "had actually originally belonged to the Leafs".

Yeah, Matthews has been immense, although I?m not sure the team could handle an extended absence from Andersen.

We haven?t had a goalie even close to him since The Eagle.
