Pretty disorganized and disappointing looking period for us. JVR with the brutal giveaway in his own zone. Lazy period overall.

Yeah, lazy offensively, they completely shut Montreal down to just that one real chance.

Matthews just put the moves on Mtl's 1st round star dman prospect.

Entitled to your opinion obviously, but we have pretty much a full line up against a AHL team....I want and need more than 1-1 through half a game.

I completely understand your mild concern.

To me though it's guys just getting going not having their offensive slickness/touch/chemistry not quite firing totally yet, but they are still completely stopping the opposition from generating offence for the most part.

Wow, I have to admit, I wasn't overly impressed with Z's skating, but he just showed me what he's capable of.  Awesome!

I saw this and it really struck a chord with me.

I think it explains why he sometimes looks awkward skating out there, but then he can just explode and sprint very quickly over short distances.

Interestingly, it wasn't awkwardness for me.  In fact his skating looked smooth.  It just looked a little slow.  I was worried about his acceleration and speed.

But the way he came off the boards in front of the net showed me everything I need to know.

Well, in all fairness, with all the kids we have in the lineup, you could call the Leafs an AHL lineup too

Well. They certainly aren't playing a very cohesive game, but what should we really expect in the first real preseason game with all these rookies?

Never gonna tire of seeing Nylander feed Rielly in transition. Shortside shelf for the lead.

Some vets putting in a good game tonight:
Kadri, Bozak, Michalek, and Martin (surprisingly).

Sparks and Gauthier impressively kill off a 6-on-3, but having Hunwick and Polak back on the ice with a tired PK group they give up the tying goal.

Yeah, Polak was not good on the tying goal.  Marincin, OTOH, I thought looked very good for the duration of the 6/3.  I am really rooting for him to become a fixture on the blueline.

Hunwick with the redemption kill shot, after JvR does all the work.

Edit:Hunwick has outscored his previous season this preseason.
