Another period that the Leafs have been badly outplayed in Tampa, and it wasn't close.

What is it with this team? They win a game they don't deserve and then come out playing poorly.

Something is fundamentally wrong with the core.  I don't understand not being ready to play for a playoff game.  This team lacks something and I have no idea how you fix it.

You strip out the entire team save for Matthews.

If I'm Matthews I'm not sticking around for a retool/rebuild.

One of Marner or Matthews will stay.

So many bad stats for the Leafs in the playoffs.  In the post mortem of this team, I think signing Tavares will loom large as a mistake.

Been saying that about the core for the last 3-4 years. Dubas believes in them figured they?d mature and figure it out. I personally think they need to win a series. Get that feeling on what it takes. I?ve been critical of them because I don?t see it. Same say blame Keefe but ultimately it?s up to the players to bring it and come playoff every night. You can take the night off here and there during the regular season but not in the playoffs. Till that happens us fans will keep being disappointed.

Leafs as built are a great regular season team.

Which Dubas addressed (again) at the deadline, more successfully than ever.  No ROR, we'd be looking at going down 3-1.  Acciari, McCabe have made a positive impact.

While I do think Keefe has been outcoached these last two games, maybe the answer to all this (right now at least) is that TB's skaters are all playing really, really well.

Matthews' playoff performances have been a part of the problem.

He rarely, if ever, has come up big in an important game.

His line is putting up points but I agree.  We are watching Tampa dominate puck possession.  I'm not seeing that from any of our lines.  Matthews and Marner need to be better at not just getting the puck in the net but in generating sustained pressure.

That's an interesting question.  Of course he's taking up too much cap space.  And I really don't think he's ideal as a captain.  But he's still elite at what he does well.

No you're telling me the other team can just be playing better at the moment? Wow never would have thought it was possible.

Well I guess that's it, game over, season over. There's lots of time left.

To your point, this period:

1.  Mix up the lines.
2.  Skate the puck out of the OZ if possible.
3.  Prioritize getting looks at dirty goals.

Mathews gets shut down way to easy.

Great chance by Matthews, right into the glove.

Keep those types of chances coming and they can get back into this.

I used to think this was a problem, but then I watched them be terrible for looooong stretches in important playoff games and I changed my mind.

The Leafs spent a little too long with ZAR on the point with Holl down low for my liking but a good shift.
