Again, I do not see that as a systems thing. The coach underachieved and got upset in the first round. Where they were in the standings didn't matter because they were out of the playoffs and their season was over.
 
Lou also did it to Julien in 2007, with 3 games left in the season. Team had slowed down some with a playoff spot (and the division lead) essentially wrapped up, but not at all at fire the coach level. Didn’t work out as well that spring.
 
Better for Grebenkin, probably will play major minutes in all situations, work on his skating, intense training, when he returns to the Leafs I expect him in beast mode a la Knies.
 
 
I am starting to think that Artur is a better prospect than the Beast (which is hard to believe). Murray still playing games for the Marlies, which sort of puzzles me. He won't play for the Leafs I'd wager, so are they building him up as trade bait? Or would he be our first call up still, if Stoli or Woll/Wall goes down, God forbid.

I believe Murray is injured again.
 
It's awesome to see Akhtyamov playing as well as he is but let's not forget we all declared Hildeby to be the goalie of the future after his great start in the AHL last season too. He seems to be struggling in year 2 now (2-2-2, 0.897 Sv%). That's not to say Hildeby is trash or anything but just that we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves with any of these young goalies yet.

Ben Danford felt the sweat from his palms on the steering wheel.

In the boat with him, Matthew Knies, Easton Cowan, Conor Timmins, Bobby McMann and Marshall Rifai — people Danford hoped would be future Maple Leafs teammates — looked on. Behind them all, the main reason for the 18-year-old’s rising nerves was floating in the water.

John Tavares, the then-Leafs captain, bobbed up and down. He gave Danford, 16 years his junior, a thumbs-up.

“I’ve driven a boat,” Danford said in a lengthy interview, “but never when someone was doing water sports behind it.”

Tavares invited the next gen of Leafs to his cottage compound for morning training and afternoon bonding.

Jake Muzzin is basically Ben Danford’s primary development coach at this point.

Owen Sound traded Sam McCue to the Flint Firebirds yesterday, but

Trade deadline is tomorrow, so we'll likely see him moved once more. This scoops guy is guessing Sudbury (hometown), and I, with no knowledge whatsoever, think he might draw the attention of London, where his older brother Max also played.
 
In other news our London continues his streak. It's pretty amazing....
 
I'd be curious to see how many times he's kept the streak alive by getting a point in the final 10 minutes of a game. Seems like it's happened quite a bit.
 
Originally, I was hoping he'd be an RH Muzzin, but I don't think the offensive vision is there. I think he'll be closer to RH Phaneuf, which isn't bad, per se. As long as he can maintain and improve 4-way mobility, his profile is still very welcome.
 
Cowan's (unofficial) point streak ended after 65 games a couple of weeks ago.

I think he has a good mental approach to pressure, etc.
“I haven’t been thinking about it,” Cowan said of the streak. “I just play the game. I hit the crossbar there (in the third period). Sometimes, they don’t go your way. It ended and that’s it.”
