Red Wings @ Leafs - Dec. 13th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Not that it matters but how does Brendan Smith not get more than that there? Two hand slash to the guts and then breaks his stick cross checking the guy when he is going down. Gutless. Supplemental discipline perhaps?

How could Panik not get a star? They've got blind muppets handing them out.

Reimer was only named the 2nd star in the game on Wednesday, so yeah.

Panik will be duly rewarded in the MotM thread, and many articles about him tomorrow.

Keep the good times rollin' boys! A lot of things are clicking right now.

4 points against a division rival. Huge.

I'd like to see Panik on Holland's wing instead of Clarkson. 3 big, mobile, skilled forwards on a sheltered scoring line to expose some mismatches.

I'd be all for it, they were former teammates a few years back on the Storm so there is some familiarity between the two.

Yeah all that and Panik turns around and jersey's him and start feeding him...that was great to watch!
I wonder when the last time is the Leafs beat the Wings TWICE in less than a week? I bet its been a LONG time.
Full credit to the Buds, they have looked very good since the Nashville embarrassment about a month ago now.

I can't believe Panik wasn't 1st star, let alone A star.  He had a really nice game.  That first haymaker made the crowd go nuts.  I'm not sure just how much contact he made with it but it was one of the biggest ovations from the crowd I have seen in a while after that fight.

Kessel looked like was labouring a lot.  He seemed winded or at least lacking any extra effort on a lot of plays.  He quit on a few rushes we have seen him turn into goals before.  It's pretty obvious that he's playing hurt but that probably doesn't bode well for a short turn around game at 5:00PM tomorrow (what's up with that NHL?)

Holzer continues to be a nice addition to the defense.  I feel bad for him because there is no way that Randy will play him over Robidas when Polak comes back.  Maybe they can find a way to package Franson + Polak for a better top pairing guy (not actually suggesting this as an acceptable package).

The Kadri line was again the best IMO.  A lot of decent scoring chances.  Winnik has really done a nice job this year.  I still don't like him playing in the top 6 but he winds up on the score sheet when he does.

I know Detroit ran up some shots in the 3rd period, but I felt that this was one of their more complete games on the year.  Detroit really was having a hard time evading the Leafs in the defensive zone even when they had possession.  There were a few plays where Detroit set themselves up nicely with some quick passes and that Dominik Bernier save in the 1st period was awesome, but overall I felt the Leafs dictated the style of play for the majority.

Nice to beat Detroit twice in one week. 3-1-1 on the season against them this year (Detroit goes 2-2-1).  Division wins matter.  Tie-breakers matter.

Good game especially the fact that the Leafs outshot the Wings, peppering Mrazek with 40+ shots.
They also outshot Detroit in the second period alone, by a margin of 20-5.

Great effort on all fronts.  Way to go Leafs, way to go!

Wait, what?  Hadn't noticed that, but I guess it's in line with the theme of the top performer of the night coming in second.

That high mobile game camera gives me a pretty good idea what it would look like to watch ants play hockey.

I hate that angle during live play. I think when they use it for replays it's good for seeing how a play unfolds, but live I definitely agree with you.

Was a good game. I missed the fight with Panik. Nice to see the 3 out of 4 lines playing well. Waiting for the first line to wake up. Bring on the Kings

Re watching that Rielly goal, man did he ever move his feet to get up on that play. Goalie should probably have had it, still, great work to see the seam and skate it in instead of dumping it while the Leafs were changing.
