I feel like Nylander is going to be playing on the 4th line tonight after that move in front of Andersen last night.

If that was anybody but Nylander, or Matthews, they'd have been blasted around here last night.

I mean if it's some slug like Martin that did that sure he'd be blasted since he doesn't ever produce offense, so you're less likely to let him off the hook on a play like that.  Nylander does so much more for the team with his offense that you can forgive a play like that (especially since it didn't end up in a goal)

Exactly.

Shut your whorish mouth, Francis.

Do you ever wonder why your kids look like my kids?

Frank, we know all about your wife . . . :P

OK, I'll admit, that was well done.

Nylander would have been blasted if the puck ended up in the Leafs' net. The fact the Caps didn't score is the only reason he's getting some leeway here - at least, in my case. It's more of a "don't do that again" situation rather than a "you screwed up" situation.

I think the fact that the puck didn't end up in the net is not really relevant.  It probably should have.

I think the reason I bring this up is that Babcock goes bananas over that kind of mistake, especially given the score at that point of the game when they're trying to close out a close one.

I'm not suggesting that I would demote him, given his overall performance (and Babcock didn't ask me what I would do, FYI)...but given Babcock's previous lashings on guys making dumb plays in important situations, I'd be surprised if he hadn't had a very short and stern conversation with him after the game, at least.

A gentle reminder sure, Nylander was probably regretting the trip back to the bench after that play cause he knows he dun goofed.  Still my comparison was valid.  Martin does nothing positive for the scoresheet on the ice so he better as hell not be responsible for letting a goal go in.  It's easier to forgive a play like that from Nylander cause of all the good he does...but yeah it wouldn't go without him being reminded that he shouldn't be doing that late in games when they're up.
