It's definitly time for Ryan to step up and get going - especially if Stone is done (which it sounds like he is).

Ryan himself is playing hurt, isn't he?

I haven't heard or read anything official. It sure makes a good excuse for him going from one of our best players on the ice every night to what we've been seeing from him lately. "Ryan must be hurt" dominated the talk at the playoff party I was at last night more than any talk about suspending Subban. "Hammond finally let in 4 goals" and "we had that game and let it get away from us" were also hot topics. And we most definitly did not lose our minds after the call on Subban earlier in the game was overturned - not us!

So, am I the only person besides Mason that thinks the slash wasn't that bad? You guys are going to make me stand alone with him?

I mean, penalty sure. Game misconduct/suspension worthy? I don't know about that. An inch higher or lower and he hits equipment and avoids an injury. Subban's aim isn't that good.

I don't think it looked that bad. There wasn't much of a back swing, and I'm surprised it actually broke his wrist. Maybe Stone has weak bones.

Dave Naylor on TSN just said microfracture isn't a real medical term.  I suspected that as I've never heard the term before and couldn't find anything about it.

If he had a small simple fracture or a hairline fracture wouldn't they have called it that?  They seemed to be really going hard at the NHL with Murray sending Quintal the "news" last night, so why make up a minimizing term like "microfracture" when they could just say simple fracture, hairline fracture or just fractured wrist.

So what does microfracture mean? Not a real fracture but we're going to say there is? A boo-boo? His arm is fine and is absolutely going to play game 2?  What?

I found this on page 2 of googling the term "microfracture": http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/microfracture

But they could call it microfracture, hairline fracture, small fracture, tiny fracture, etc.  You get the idea.

I found that too but it's literally the only place it's mentioned.  It's not synonymous with the other terms you mentioned anywhere else.  Why would they choose such an unknown and actually incorrect term if they could use heavier hitting terms like fractured wrist, which by Murray's behaviour, I think he definitely would have.

Maybe it's a colloquial term.  Or there's this potentially.

@NHLbyMatty

doctor in edm says a microfracture is more commonly known as a bone bruise, re Stone's sore hand.

LOL! So that's what it is then, a bone bruise.

A bone bruise usually results from a direct and sudden force not strong enough to break or fracture a bone.

A bone bruise may cause minimal damage to a bone which may be detected with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) but not by plain x-rays.

So not detected by an x-ray and not actually broken or fractured.

What a bunch of clowns.

You actually think Stone is going to sit out with a bruise to try and con the league into suspending Subban? The hottest forward in the league? If he doesn't play tomorrow it's safe to say it's broken and I hope Habs fans have enough class to drop the whole "he's faking it" bs.

I don't think he is going to miss any games. If he does, then I'll shut up. I don't think Stone's faking anything, he got an injury, but I think Murray has tried to twist, stretch and exagerrate the truth.

Apparently this was the response from that doctor in Edmonton.

They've dropped the word "micro" too at times when speaking to the media, which is just wrong.  This was not a type of fracture.

Really though, even if he's not hurt, should you really be trying to two hand a guy?  Even if you aren't trying to hurt him?

Uh, obviously not?

Just seems to be a lot of focus on whether or not Stone is hurt or not, and defining what type of injury he has.
