Round 2: (A1) Boston vs. (A3) Montreal

Death. Taxes. Montreal PP at crucial point of game.

And just to be clear, Boston got away with stuff too.  It just drives me nuts when you see stuff like that.  A minute or two before the 1st Montreal PP in OT Montreal had too many men on the ice.  Call things even or don't call them at all.

Montreal blows a lead with less than 2 minutes left.  They had 2-0 and 3-2 leads in the game.

I'm still waiting for some of these top flight teams to start employing their "don't give up any one goal leads" strategy that Carlyle stubbornly refused to implement all year.

Montreal is considered a top-flight team now?

Now that Price has shown what he can do against a much tougher and determined opponent than Tampa Bay was, this series may just come down to a Price vs Rask battle.

Given the number of shots Boston took in Game 1, the fact that the long layoff did not appear to work against Montreal, and the fact that the game went to OT, make that double OT, this series is certainly the one to watch.

In the long run, and if this series goes to 7 games, neither of these two teams will be easy pickings.  Boston having the edge in physicality and Montreal having the slight edge in speed; Boston has it's leader in Lucic, Montreal in Subban; both teams have a plethora of shooters & skaters.  Which will prevail?

I think he was being iron'ical.

That was an unbelievable performance by Price.  I'd say he took away 3-4 goals and this was more of 5-2, 6-3 type game.  Boston dominated all game, won every period, but Montreal steals one courtesy of Price.  He's really dialed in at the right time, either that or this is just how good he is.  If he can keep it up, who's to say they can't win it all?

What makes this so important in this series is the frustration factor.  That's how Montreal gets Boston off their game.  You can only go so long outplaying another team with nothing to show for it before you start getting stupid, and that's how Montreal always does it against Boston.  If this continues into game 2, then Boston is in big trouble.

Always amazes me how Montreal gets Boston off their game. Pretty much the only team in the NHL that can do it.

Being small, fast and incredibly annoying make big team mad.

Komarov did some of that to the B's last year. Clearly the plan should be to get smaller and more annoying (and dive more too, eh?)

I didn't think Montreal got Boston off their game last night.  They weren't doing stupid things, the penalties weren't retaliatory sorts of things.  Rask just wasn't anywhere near as good as Price.

That's what I thought, too. If that was Montreal's game plan, it's a pretty bad plan.

It's Joel Ward all over again...

that's just terrible. I don't like Subban much either, but it's because he's a hab, not because of his colour. This just makes me sick :-(

I am a big Pernell hater for various reasons, but would defend him to no end when it comes to this garbage. Nice that the Bruins came out and took a stand right away.
Sadly Donald Sterling is not alone......

Which will prevail between shooters and skaters?

1-1 in the 2nd. Lucic bats it in with his hand, no goal.

Also, Healy is fawning over Carey Price. As are the rest of the announce team. I get he's playing well, so I don't see it stopping any time soon, but Healy is over the top.
