Sabres @ Leafs - Feb. 11th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Yeah 4 Leafs in the vicinity but no one on Kane. Matthews got the best of Eichel in the first meeting but unless Auston wakes up looks like it's going to be Jack's night.

Jeebus, Bozak. Stick with your man! Eichel should not have had time to make that play.

I don't get it. That's the biggest problem with this team. The man to man coverage is horrible.

Man, Polak sure looked tough there allowing a 2 on 1 on a penalty kill. The Leafs D sure needs more of that.

Hey Nik, I see you and azzurri were jousting in another thread over the defense.  I'd be interested in hearing what you think needs to be done to shore up the D.  Actually, I'd be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on that.

I answer that more or less in reply #185 of that Nylander thread.

The short answer is there's no urgent need to fix anything so they can continue drafting and developing.

It looked like Papineau got clipped by Zaitsev's skate we he was dumped into the Leafs bench.... I guess he's ok?

Did Papineau perchance have a glint in his eye that said "I sure do wonder what happened to my commemorative CCM stick?"

I don't like our defense I'm sure we'll all agree it needs an upgrade. Personally I think it's too soft. None of them strike fear into standing in front of our net. Only 2 I would keep are Reilly and Zaitsev. Gardiner has all the tools but has brain farts night after night just bonehead plays. Reilly is being misused. He's one of your best if not the best skater on the backend and I know his shot is weak but Babcock rarely uses him on the PP. Playing him and Zaitsev as the shutdown pair. Don't think he will be a #1 shutdown guy. Not tough or big enough. The D though I don't think is the reason we suck defensively. It's the team defence which hasn't been addressed by Babcock and crew. Hate repeating myself but I don't know if Babcock likes the wide open game and doesn't want to cut back a bit on that style but I think they need to. All teams give up chances but we give up way too many and quality ones on a nightly basis. Again hate to repeat myself but I don't see anything better Defensively with this team compared to the Wilson and Carlyle days. Yes it's a young team and offensively we are better but team isn't going anywhere till we tighten up.

I'd pay good money to watch someone punch the teeth out of Marcus Foligno's head.

Well he isn't fighting Martin so chances of seeing that are pretty slim. Maybe JVR might decide to drop the gloves again and maybe throw a punch. LOL.

OK, thanks for that.

You're not the only one that hates it when you repeat yourself.

Well I clearly stated what I thought on another thread but someone wanted our opinion. So I gave it to him and the rest of you. Don't like it don't read it or block me.
