Nah, that is 2 points we can't afford to gain!

Play Brewer 30 minutes he is making us miss Aki Berg...

Brewer-MacWilliam playing together for 15 minutes would probably do just as much damage.

Everybody was pretty pumped about MacWilliam, like 2 years ago though.

Has he really gone that far backwards?

It's probably more that he hasn't really taken any steps forward. The praise that he and Granberg both received in the past is probably a good warning that we shouldn't get all that excited about guys that project to be bottom-pairing defencemen at best.

I think it was the Leafs' director of amateur scouting that called MacWilliam a "blue chip prospect" - despite even the most generous of scouting reports would peg him as a bottom pairing guy.

Is that person still the Leafs' director of amateur scouting?

Sorry I remembered wrong - it was actually the Director of Player Development, Jim Hughes: http://mapleleafshotstove.com/2013/08/02/an-interview-with-leafs-director-of-player-development-jim-hughes/

As far as I know he's still in that role.

He is, although now technically Mark Hunter oversees player development (Hughes), amateur scouting (Morrison), and professional scouting (Kaspar) as well. All 3 of those departments could probably use some fresh blood though.

@BNHarrington

Since Dec. 14, the #Sabres are 7-26-3. Since Dec. 17, the #Leafs are 7-26-3. That's downright spooky.

Stephen Whyno pointed that out too. He also said that the Sabres have been outscored by 52 goals during that time, the Leafs 51.

Kadri will be scratched for at least 2 more games, per Shanahan.

Nice! Tank nation is happy

"at least"?!?? How many meetings did Kadri miss?

No one knows, however he will be a RFA, and that might be the strategy to sign a low term ou low money deal...

Yeah I'm sure he and his agent won't bring up the fact that he was denied the possibility of putting up points in 3+ games. Especially against a team as horrible as the Sabres.

And the Leafs will say: "He broke team rules here, here and here."

So far the only rule we know that he broke was being late for practice.

Shanahan specifically said that that isn't the sole reason for this.

There have been several rumours stating he is not good in the room and caused problems. Maybe the rumours are true, we dont know, and probably never will. He has now been asked to be more professional on and off the ice.
