Sandin back with the Marlies

I can only imagine this will be short term.  After all-star break I think him and/or Lilgegren will be called up.  I hope Ceci is sent away somehow.

I imagine it's more dependent on how Muzzin's recovering from his injury, and when he might be expected back. If he's close, Sandin and Liljegren are probably staying with the Marlies for the next while. If he's not, we'll probably see one of them.

Sandin gets a bronze medal for his efforts as Sweden defeats Finland in the early game today.

Dont forget he was named Defenseman of the tournament !

Yups. The top tournament awards hadn't yet been announced when I posted that (right after the game).

For now

Four more games....
???

Burns a year of his ELC. Already played in 6.
Thx but I don't think that'll stop the Leafs from using him.

Yeah I mean if they can get rid of Ceci and bring in another asset at the deadline that would be a huge boon.

For sure. I hope Muzz is back soon. My guess is he'll have to go LTIR when Johnsson comes back?

It's funny, I know conventional wisdom says you should avoid burning off a year of an ELC in these situations. But imagine if the Leafs gave Nylander and Marner 10 games in the first year of their ELCs before sending them back to the OHL/AHL instead of having both of them see their first year slide. Imagine they both negotiated their 2nd contracts a year earlier in their careers. Hindsight is 20/20 and I don't recall anybody suggesting the Leafs do this, but there's a pretty darn good chance our cap situation would look a heck of a lot different than it does today if that happened.

Probably not, but it should mean they?ll be a little more selective about bringing him up. At this point, it?s likely he doesn?t get the call unless he?s up here to stay.

Anytime you can sign earlier is going to be better, cheaper for the team. The cap goes up every year but the percentage of the cap taken by the players stays the same.

I think there's probably a mandate to get past the first round this year, and if they feel Sandin can be a difference maker, I think Dubas brings him up.

And where does he play?

Are they keeping Muzzin past the deadline if he doesn't sign?

You said it yourself, there's probably a mandate to get past the first round this year. I can't see a top-10/100-point team selling assets.
