Stay away from the UFA's! How do we improve?

Not really an improvement, but I see George Parros is a UFA, would Burke/Carlyle make a move for him?

I mean, never say never but does he really add a ton that Orr didn't? They just buried Orr in the minors. If they really wanted a guy to play 5 minutes and fight they had one.

But was Orr not broken? Has he played much or fought since he went down to the AHL? I could see us go for Parros and Thornton. With Brown that could be a pretty truculent fourth line at a cap hit of under $3m... Not that I'm saying I'd go for that myself though I do kind of like Thornton.

I'm not convinced he really fully recovered from the concussion he suffered last season, both physically and mentally. The few games he did play while he was still with the team, it didn't look like he was as interested in getting involved in the rough stuff and just kind of floated out there for his 5 minutes of ice time.

You could be right, might be somewhere in between, for Burke/Wilson to send him down and admit that his skating was the issue seemed a bit telling to me, fwiw, but they could have still been protecting him.

I don't think Orr was completely healthy either. I give some weight to the reports about how severe his concussion was. He may finish his contract in the AHL but I think he's done as an enforcer and this is likely the end of the road for his career. The team can't say much because it puts him at risk if he does play - he may be able to skate and play hockey but he probably isn't able to really fight (as opposed to a sweater pulling tussle) with risking further serious injury.

I think that's the reason why they kept Rosehill around as long as they did.

hey guys I don't know if you have been following but the last 2 weeks Orr is getting back in the saddle and is getting more and more like his old self.  This fight Zach Fitzgerald challenges Orr as an upcoming fighter and Orr had mercy on him as he really could have hurt Zach:

Orr's biggest problem seems to be that he doesn't throw lefts which is how Derek Engelland beat him in Pittsburgh.  If Orr would fight with both hands and play with heart on the ice then he would be one of the top guys in the NHL and an asset to the Leafs.  i don't want to see the stupid staged fights with Orr anymore though.  Only the reactionary to protect his team mates.
