That depends on the kind of return they're looking for. I wouldn't say the deadline is the draft. I'm thinking more mid-July. If he's not moved by the time free agency really winds down, he's probably a Leaf until at least the trade deadline.
That makes sense to me, JVR back playing and healthy, if he puts up great numbers on a more offensive Leafs team his value will be at an all time high by trade deadline. Given his age, production, and contract, he would be attractive to a team looking for a playoff push.

I just don't see him moving at all, it would need to be a very sweet offer. He is what most teams want in a winger, us included. So to move him would be a step back.

Look at it this way: JVR is here on an amazingly palatable salary and cap hit for the next two seasons. Toronto realistically isn't going to start contending (or try to start) for at least 3 years. So it makes sense to move an attractive commodity at its highest value.
When the Leafs are ready to contend and JVR is nearing 30 and looking for 7x6, that suddenly doesn't look so palatable.

You probably know by now that I disagree with that. Especially the "try to start" part.

Contending and competing are two very different things. I imagine this team will be competitive starting this upcoming season. If you think they are a contender this year; however, well, good luck to you sir and happy watching. I think you might be a tad disappointed.

Ahhh, gotcha. I think they are two seasons away from CONTENDING. 51 years is long enough.
