The Habs Thread - Reloaded

Ye boi!

Campoli...blah.

Word is he's a replacement for Weber who has fallen out of favour.  Either that, or they still have no idea when Markov is going to be ready.

I can only hope the Habs start off the regular season as they've done the preseason. 1-5 currently, 14 goals scored, 24 against.  Please make it so.

Jean-Luc Picard shall!

early days yet...but awfully quiet around here

What a frustrating game...outshot Buffalo something like 42-20 and lost 3-1.  Completely dominated Buffalo for 2 periods.  Games like this make me not want to bother watching.  It's just a completely frustrating, unenjoyable time.

that's miller in a nutshell isn't it though?  i didn't see the whole game..just the third...but that guy is amazing in net ...he gets breaks too ..but when he's on ..he's scary ..he automatically makes buffalo a real threat

on montreal's side..they seem to be leafing up the powerplay lately ..2 in their last 22 or something? and 0 for 5 on the night?  that's what killed the leaf's chances vs. the avs last night

Looking at this conference, and Montreal's roster, it's becoming obvious they're going to miss the playoffs.

I know it's easy to say now because they're 1-3-1 to start the season, but as most of you know, I've never loved this piece meal team that was put together 3 years ago.  Gionta and Gomez really look like they've lost a step this year, and considering Montreal has been a fringe playoff team the last 3 years, any regression of these 2 guys isn't going to fare well for Montreal.

I think Kostitsyn is going to have a terrible year too and will be shipped out at some point mid-way (and probably light it up wherever he goes).  He looks really disgruntled out there and there were rumours this summer that he and Jacques Martin did not get along.  There was an offside in last night's game and the camera was on Kostitsyn who really glared at his teammate who went offside and mumbled something under his breath.  It's a minor little thing, I know, but I think there's something more there.

Their blue line is injured again this year...Markov is still out and they lost Wiz to free agency.  Other than Price, Subban, Pacioretty and Cammalleri there's not much to get excited about other than a high pick in the next draft.

And also, they had the least goals for of any playoff team last year, and didn't add any scoring this year, so if Price doesn't have another exceptional season, the math is pretty easy.

Besides, this goes right along with what most people thought 3 years ago when this group of spare parts was assembled. They might compete for a few years, but they're too small and are going to get old quick, and will probably require a proper rebuild in 3-5 years.  Well, here we are.

while i have every reason to hope you're right.  this seems beyond premature.  montreal continues to be one of the fastest teams in the east..and their passing is generally exceptional ..while that holds in place they'll have a shot ..and some of those injuries are going to heal..i can't say if new ones will take their place or not ...anyway..at least give them a quarter of a season before you write it off entirely...stranger things have happened

I appreciate that, but I don't think it's pre-mature.  Unless Price has a similar season to last, they will probably miss the playoffs.  That's just as true now as it will be in April.

It certainly sucks playing a team and having their goaltender play great and bail the team out.

*cough*Price*cough*

;D

The Leafs have a pretty tough road schedule, IMO, and the team's that they play that are struggling (Habs, Bruins, ie.) are probably due to get a few wins soon. Should be a good game regardless. Sadly, I'm going to the Sens/BJ's game that night and won't get to watch it - what a horrible decision in retrospect.

It annoys me that how bad the Habs are doing isn't getting much attention by the media.

Discuss.

Dissatisfaction with the Habs' play tends to not get noticed by the media until the fires get out of control.
