I understand that Kadri is working better without the puck, and tonight he threw some hits.  But he still doesn't look like a 1C to me.  I guess I want more out of a top 5 pick at this stage in his career.

Kadri wasn't a top 5 pick and, to be honest, a legit #1 center is probably not a fair minimum standard for the #7 pick in a so-so draft.

5, 7, let's argue the difference over in Potahtoville

The difference is two.

Or negative two.

There, I argued.

I was starting to think Kadri was gonna get robbed here. No Rielly huh?

I assume you are referring back to my comment the other day.  Kadri has been much better w/o the puck the last few games, no question.  I want to see him put the whole package together for an extended period of games, though, and bad luck or no, shooting % anomalies or no, posts or no, he hasn't done that yet.

Rielly was excellent in the 3rd.  I thought Matthias (and Boyes) looked as good as that in the 1st.  I almost voted Rielly after Matthias got caught up ice on the 4x4 goal, but I gave him the nod.

The Kadri comment wasn't directed at anything you said, just felt like he wasn't going to be appreciated for the fantastic game he had tonight. He was competing all over the ice. 2 assists look good too (although his game was more than that). Just glad he's getting some more votes.

Although the Rielly vote was more of what caught my eye. I know we don't exactly challenge others votes and that's really not what I meant to do. I just would have given Rielly both my votes if I could have. Surprised he was left out. All good though.

OK, I see now.  Anyway, yes, Kadri was strong tonight and Rielly has really looked mature on a whole new level so far this year*, not to mention lighting the lamp a couple of times.

* Does anybody else think he looks, well, not so much like a kid all of a sudden?  He looks older than his years, to me, and he seems to have filled out a bit too which makes him stronger on the puck.  Or so I imagine.

I think that Rielly was always bigger and stronger than we gave him credit for. He just doesn't exactly use that to his advantage in the defensive end. Hopefully he figures that out. His confidence has increased ten-fold though, I think that's what makes him look older out there.

Good effort from Kadri and JVR, but they each took some really stupid penalties. Thoughen up, boys.
