My complaint. People always complaining about the police.
I got into an arguement at work because a coworker got yelled at (cop let him off w.o a ticket) while he ran into a gas station. Neglect the fact he parked in 3 spots (1 of them handicap), but it's the officers fault for being aggressive.

It's the cops fault people get pulled over for speeding. It's the traffic cops fault someone gets penalized for parking improperly.

THis B.S. " I hate cops" mentality is a joke. We want them to protect us, but when they're protecting others FROM us there is a problem.

I'm not saying all cops are perfect or nice people, or even always correct. In fact, I think sometimes leniancy would do them better than ticketing (in Moon111's case for example) but at the same time, they didn't make anyone break the law.

People need to start taking responsibility for themselves and their actions.

Amen.

Imagine being a cop.  Every person you're talking to is likely lying to you to some extent (I only had 1 beer, or I just took off my seatbelt for a minute, or I had no idea I was speeding, etc).

I'd hate being a cop.  My hat goes off to all cops out there.  Yeah, there's the odd bad apple, but most I've got to know are solid people who care about what they're doing...

Agreed.  But on the same note, if you're going to choose to be a policeman, you are going to be held to a VERY high standard because of the job you have chosen to do.  The vast, vast majority are great people doing a great job.

EDIT: And stuff like this infuriates me: http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/article/1202587--rookie-cop-takes-heat-for-arresting-off-duty-officer?bn=1

This is what seems to be a good cop doing his job, and that is the treatment he gets from fellow cops?  Obviously cops should be held to a different standard when it comes to some things they can do on duty that may be unlawful for other citizens, but to arrest an off-duty officer for impaired and then be punished by your colleagues for it?  That doesn't strike me as a cohesive group solely striving to do their job, but smacks of a lot of the G20 crap where they all banded together to protect each other, the law be damned.

Door to door sales? Man, I already want to punch you in the throat...  :P Seriously though, don't be pushy and it goes without saying, be polite... but not Eddie Haskell polite (if you know what I mean.) Phony drives me nuts.

Edit: and of course, best of luck.

I get 2 or 3 calls weekly from Air Duct cleaning companies.  I've asked them to take me off their list, and they just hang up.  They obviously don't give a crap about the do not call list...

I got a call from them once, and when I told them I wasn't interested, the guy actually got mad and started pressuring me before I had a chance to tell him that my house doesn't have any air ducts!

If their number comes up on your call ID, you can report them on the do not call website. Not sure if it does anything, but, if enough people lodge complaints against the same number . . .

After every time I move, I swear to myself that next time, I'm going to hire movers to do it for me.

And inevitably, the next time I move, I figure I'm man enough to do it all myself to save a few bucks, and end up regretting it.

I hurt all over.

So an Ontario Court judge rules that not being able to drive faster than 5 km over the legal limit is unconstitutional?

I'll remember that the next time I get a speeding ticket.

I think the decision only applies to speed limiters.

I'm a little confused as to how the Toronto City council went from voting on a measure to remove the plastic bag tax to banning plastic bags.

I think it was to say people should stop complaining.

I live in Toronto and I'm fine with it... actually happy. People lost their $h!# paying 5 cents for a bag. Can't wait for the reaction to this.

I have 5 or 6 of those cloth bags, and if I know I'm going to buy something, I take one or more with me.  Actually surprised how little I have used a plastic bag since moving to Australia.

They always annoyed me anyways.  I'd never want to throw them out, so they just collect in my house.

Where does that nickel go anyways?

allegedly, to the environmental folks. Funny thing though, we charge people 5 cents each for those stupid bags, but when I see the invoicing from the supplier, we actually pay about 7 cents each for them (plus shipping! and taxes) in the first place. I think they're considered 'cost of doing business' expenses (which translates into 'business writeoffs' for the parent company, certainly not us) and then a couple times a year, they write a nice fat cheque (fat to me, probably a drop in the bucket to the company) to WWF or some such and say 'look at us, good corporate citizen!'. *rolls eyes*

I'd buy the whole 'it's a bag tax' if I saw it being rung in the way we do taxes, where it's accountable and remitted to the appropriate folks at month's end (or whenever). I'm not sure how they're accounted for though.
