Xbox gold does the same thing where they give away 2 games to dl a month. This month was solid: Tombraider and BioShock Infinite - one of the best games ever made!

Ack, those are just for 360. Us poor Xbone users need something to play Microsoft!

For any PS3 owners that never pulled the trigger on South Park: The Stick of Truth but wanted to, it's now a $5 download from the Playstation Store.

One of my favourite games from last year. Absolutely recommend to anybody who even kind of likes South Park.

I like South Park, though I haven't watched the show for many years.  I bought the game for the $5 download (and was probably willing to pay $20 in store).  I hope not too much of the humour relies on me being caught up with the show.

I don't think it will be an issue. I've always really likely South Park but like you I haven't exactly been watching the show religiously. Just the odd episode here and there. They refer back to some of the shows core jokes, but as long as you enjoy the general humour of the show you'll really like the game.

They aren't offered for gold account holders for One as well?

Nope, they usually have separate games for One and 360.

Lame. What games have they been giving away for One?

Right now it's Rayman Legends and an indie game called #IDARB. I haven't played Rayman yet but #IDARB is pretty fun.

Nothing against Rayman or indie games but that doesn't seem close to being fair. You'd think it would be One getting the better titles

Problem is both of those games came out before the Xbox One (although Tomb Raider had an updated version released after for next-gen). The one usually gets smaller games just because the system is still recent enough that full games released for it can't be given away for free yet.

Yeah...still kinda backwards! At least the One is superior is every other department

Hmm...I never knew about this.  Is it advertised right on the main screen when you start up and I've just been glossing over it?

I won't complain about getting anything for free, but both Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider were released in March 2013 on the 360, so 2 years ago. I would imagine that most people who  really wanted to play those games would have probably done so by now. So again, the whole Games for Gold program is great, but they have good reasons for giving games away for free. The next-gen version of Raymond Legends is only a year old, and IDARB was a brand new game. It's not like One users got completely screwed over.

Yeah I used to refer to that screen as the one last bong hit screen also.
Sometimes it's there yeah in one of the small windows that shows different features. You cant miss it under the gaming section - one rb over from home screen

Totally not complaining! I'm loving Tombraider and I'm anxious to start playing Bioshock - my OCD prohibits me from playing more than one title at a time but I've already dl'd it. Did that new version of Monopoly come out for the One as well? It's basically Monopoly on steroids and with multiplayer - lots of fun

The Playstation equivalent to that is subscription Playstation Plus. A couple free games every month for each system, PS3, PS4 and Vita. Like with XBox, it's not the same games for the different systems.

Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite in a single month is a great month in my books;  both are great games.

PSN has mass effect trilogy is on sale for $5 this weekend.

That's just ridiculous. If you haven't played these games do yourself a favour and get it. It is the greatest set of games I have ever played.

Hmmm, I was going to wait for the inevitable remastered edition of the trilogy but I might just grab that in case.

Is that even in the works? The only thing I've heard about is ME4 on next gen...

I paid 30$ for the trilogy and I thought I got a kick ass deal at the time...

Nothing official, but it's been rumoured for awhile now. It'll happen eventually, remastering games is big now.

With the PSN sale, for anybody (or for their kids) who loves Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a beautiful and charming game and story.  My 10-year-old loved it, and I enjoyed watching him play it.  It has many, many hours of gameplay and storyline.  Well worth the $5.
