The Soshnikov

To be fair, it's not a frat house. They're not obligated to give each other clever names. They give each other the sorts of nicknames you'd use for someone you would talk to every day. It's not like I know anyone where I'd walk up to him and say "What's up, the Russian Rocket".

I don't know what things were like at your school, but we didn't exactly have clever names within the fraternities where I went.

It must be tough to recruit in the Soo.

This is further evidence that hockey players indeed make up the most thoughtful and clever nicknames for each other.

I wonder which bibliophile on the team came up with that one?

Don't worry, I got your back on this one Frannie.

Well, clever being a relative term.

Really.  About as lame as "Sid the Kid."

Anyone know why Soshnikov has been a scratch the past few games?

He ran full into McCabe along the wall a few games ago and took the worst of it.

Cheers. I thought he had been a healthy scratch, but I guess that wasn't the case.

His bomb-sights game is fun to watch but he'll either soon learn to pick his spots or else he won't last long in the league.  He's not big enough to just throw himself around at anyone and everything the way he did in his first few with the Leafs.
