Tournament Starts Today

Watching Stamkos in this series and the game tonight...makes me think how glad I was that he signed with Tampa.

A true where were you moment.  ::)

Thank goodness this crap is over.  Time to focus exclusively on training camp.

The moral of the story being that even if the other team gets an early lead and plays really boring possession based hockey Canada's still probably good enough to squeak out a win in a dull game.

WCOH2020! Woooo!

I'd now rank this Game 2 seiries-winning goal by Marchand right up there with the best.

Most dramatic goal:  Darryl Sittler's OT winner in the 1976 Canada-Czechoslovakia tilt in that Canada Cup series of that year.

Best hockey displayed by Team Canada (of any series):  1987 Canada Cup

Best series-winning goal: Paul Henderson's wrister in-close over USSR goalkeeper Tretiak, on a feed from Phil Esposito & Yvan Cournioyer.  The photo...priceless!!

Close second:  Mario Lemieux's series OT winner on a backdrop feed from Gretzky on a 2-on-1 break  in the 1987 Canada Cup over Team USSR & it's goaltender  Sergei Mylnikov.

Most emotional series (& seen 'round the world):  Canada-Russia '72

The game doesn't rank up there with the best though, unfortunately.  Basically the entire game story was told in the final 3 minutes of the third.

Hard to watch, otherwise.  We didn't deserve to win, but hey, I'LL TAKE IT!

16 STRAIGHT INTERNATIONAL MEN'S WINS BABY!

GO CANADA!!!
